Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin With news emerging that the NCAA’s Transformation Committee’s work may have hit a roadblock, Division I athletics directors and presidents still need guidance in order to prepare for the fast approaching changes. Savvy leaders are tracking several developing issues, including the new Big Ten Conference media rights deal (which some have projected will double annual institutional payouts to $100 million or more). Many are also planning for an expansion of the College Football Playoff to 12 teams, which could be a huge financial windfall for those conferences (and independents) who are part of that collection. It can be overwhelming to track on all of these moving pieces, particularly if you are a Group of Five or other mid-major program. To help Presidents and senior campus leaders assess where your institution is currently, here is a checklist to begin comparing your institution’s readiness for this new landscape: … [Read more...] about Defining Athletic Success In The New ‘Transformation’ Era: A Challenge For Mid-Major Division I Schools

Why Public Speaking Skills Are Critical—And How To Avoid 5 Big Mistakes Women Make
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin By Dianna Booher People who speak up get attention. Those who get positive attention get promoted. It’s that simple. Despite how well you may do your job, it may not matter unless others know what you’ve accomplished. At some point, for others to understand the value you create, you need to be able to articulate what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. In today’s workplace, public speaking skills are expected, not just nice-to-have skills. When you’re asked to give a formal presentation or called on in a meeting, if you can’t express yourself persuasively, executives see that skills gap as a major reason to withhold a promotion. They note “Needs more polish” on performance evaluations. By contrast, the ability to speak well is the essence of leadership: the ability to get work done through other people. Do Both Men And Women Equally Get Nervous When Asked To Speak Publicly? My response as a … [Read more...] about Why Public Speaking Skills Are Critical—And How To Avoid 5 Big Mistakes Women Make

Sungrown Cannabis Takes On Indoor Bud In Head-To-Head Challenge
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Throughout the vast majority of the millennia-long relationship humans have had with cannabis, the plant was cultivated exclusively outdoors in natural sunlight, allowing it to fully express its aroma, flavor and potency. However, beginning in the 1970s and intensifying the following decade, the misguided War on Drugs drove much of the domestic cannabis production indoors and away from the prying eyes of law enforcement. The new breed of underground growers perfected the art and science of cultivating top-shelf cannabis under lights, crossing varieties of the species and carefully selecting for new strains that performed well indoors. Additionally, the control over the environment afforded by indoor cultivation allowed growers to produce cannabis flower unblemished by inclement weather or pests. As a result, the quality and potency of indoor bud increased greatly over time, leading to a widely held belief that it is superior to … [Read more...] about Sungrown Cannabis Takes On Indoor Bud In Head-To-Head Challenge
Unlocking The Power Of Data: Making Better Business Decisions
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The key to better decision making is data. Effective leaders rely on data to make informed decisions and drive meaningful outcomes for their organizations. However, the process of unlocking data-driven insights is no small feat. Data doesn’t belong to individual departments—it’s an asset that benefits the entire organization. Advanced analytics requires the ability to access, manage, and combine data that’s stored in silos across the organization. As a result, multiple data formats and governance controls limit the accessibility and shareability of valuable information. Making better decisions means unifying data in a secure and well-governed way. Business leaders need to break down data silos, making all data securely available for analysis, regardless of where it lives in the organization. To make the most of data, organizations also need tools that empower individuals across the organization to interpret and … [Read more...] about Unlocking The Power Of Data: Making Better Business Decisions

2022 Online Bank Ranking: Chime At The Top, Current Coming On Strong
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin OBSERVATIONS FROM THE FINTECH SNARK TANK A recent study from Cornerstone Advisors highlighted the growth of digital banks and fintechs like Chime, PayPal, and Square—and the decline of megabanks like Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, and Wells Fargo—as consumers’ choices of primary checking account providers. Since 2020, the percentage of Americans whose primary checking account is with a digital bank has skyrocketed. More than a quarter of Gen Zers (21 to 26 years old) and nearly a third of Millennials (27 to 41) now call a digital bank their primary checking account provider. Among Gen Xers (42 to 56), that percentage grew from 8% to 22%. What does the Cornerstone data on primary checking account status tell the industry? Digital banks aren’t the “challenger” banks, anymore. They won. Rising interest among EMS and EMS-related firms to seek listing status
Photo by Low Yen Yeing/The Edge - A + A KUALA LUMPUR (May 20): Despite weak market sentiments in the electronics manufacturing services (EMS) sector, a few local contract manufacturers have been going against the tide to seek listing status on Bursa Malaysia. Best Kept Secret In AI? Think Huge, Act Tiny
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin David Yunger is CEO of AI and software development firm Vaital . We were days away from IPO. We had raised $100 million in funding and exploded from a team of 50 in a garage to 600 in 18 months. One million technologists joined our platform. We were the next big deal. It was the turn of a new millennium. And anything was possible. We were betting on a big deal called the internet. Fast-forward to today. AI is the new internet. Cloud is currency. And “data is the new dollar.” By the end of this decade, economic output from AI is poised to eclipse the entire economies of China and India combined — nearly $16 trillion . And yet, to CEOs and technology leaders, the promise of AI can feel at times both overwhelming and underwhelming. Underwhelming given the track record of many AI projects. Overwhelming because leaders are drowning in a sea of data. The sea is deep. And it’s roaring with noise. A … [Read more...] about Best Kept Secret In AI? Think Huge, Act Tiny
