The report by 360 Realtors showed that most respondents believed that the offices will continue to facilitate meaningful social interaction in the times to come. As employees return to work after three waves of COVID-19, the focus is on hotelisation of the office, wherein more home-like comforts are offered to employees. Offices are no longer seen as mere workstations but also spaces that nurture human productivity, foster better meaningful engagements, and take care of employee safety, according to a report titled 'The Future of Offices and Workflow Design'. The future of offices will be more about high-end services. The added services won’t always mean more luxury or comfort but will translate into better utility and the new office arrangement will be a mix of leased and owned spaces alongside flexible workstations, temporary workstations, and co-working spaces, the report by 360 Realtors said. In the last 10 years, there has been a rush to get prime office spaces in the … [Read more...] about Future of offices will be more about high-end services: Report

Responsibilities of Responsible Investing
California's attorney general, Rob Bonta, is taking the fight to the oil and gas industry, but over plastics. His office announced an investigation and issued a subpoena to ExxonMobil over its role in the plastics crisis. Bonta said, "In California and across the globe, we are seeing the catastrophic results of the fossil fuel industry's decades-long campaign of deception. Plastic pollution is seeping into our waterways, poisoning our environment and blighting our landscapes," according to a press release from his office. He says the truth is the vast majority of plastic cannot be recycled and the recycling rate has never surpassed 9%. Every week we consume the equivalent of a credit card worth of plastic through the water we drink, the food we eat, and the air we breathe. According to the complaint, in the 1950s, 1.5 million tons of plastic were produced annually. Today, that number has skyrocketed to more than 300 million tons. The Modern Identity Stack: Startup Opportunities In the $80B+ Identity Market
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin I’ve spent more than a decade building infrastructure for managing digital identity. Before I became a Partner at Mayfield investing in early stage enterprise software companies, I was the CEO at Gigya, which created the Customer Identity & Access Management category starting back in 2011, powering login & registration as a service for 700 customers and becoming Forrester leaders in the space. Now as an investor at Mayfield, we’ve continued spending time on the Identity Stack, investing in Berbix (Instant Identity Verification), OwnID (Distributed Customer Identity Platform), and Vector Flow (Physical Identity & Access Management Platform). Why so much focus on the Identity Stack? First, it’s critical enabling infrastructure for digital transformation. Without being able to verify “we are who we say we are” and “what we can access”, nothing online really works. Second, the Identity category has produced … [Read more...] about The Modern Identity Stack: Startup Opportunities In the $80B+ Identity Market
Too poor for space? Ballooning to the stratosphere is the next best thing
Since the Apollo days, astronauts have experienced an existential overwhelm through their reframed view of Earth as a fragile planet against the harshness of space and the vessel of all humanity. advertisement advertisement It’s an event so profound that it’s come to be known as the overview effect , a term coined in 1987 by author and space philosopher Frank White . For civilians, it’s reserved for a rarified few who can shell out $450,000 to $55 million for several weightless minutes at the edge of space to several days in orbit aboard the International Space Station. But in 2024, two companies— Space Perspective , a startup in Florida’s Space Coast, and World View , an established high-altitude balloon firm in Tucson, Arizona—hope to spread that transcendence to more people through comparable views at much lower prices via high-tech ballooning to the stratosphere, a section of the atmosphere still well below space but beyond … [Read more...] about Too poor for space? Macron’s Win Is an Opportunity for France and the EU: Lionel Laurent
Emmanuel Macron (File picture Bloomberg In 2017, France bucked the populist trend by voting for Emmanuel Macron against europhobic Marine Le Pen. In 2022, it has done so again – just as Slovenia looks set to eject its nationalist leader. An overwhelming display of pro-EU values? Not quite. Macron’s lead is narrower than last time – around 58%, rather than 66% — and turnout was at its lowest in decades. Voter fatigue runs high. Yet visions of an anti-elite “domino” effect after Brexit and Trump are increasingly fading in a post-Ukraine, post-Covid world. The French have voted for a France at the heart, not the fringes, of Europe – albeit one that has to better protect its people. There is opportunity here for Macron. France has strategic weight as the EU’s only nuclear power, with an economy that’s outperforming Germany’s and that is less dependent on Russian gas in a time of war and surging energy prices. But it needs better direction. Close The … [Read more...] about Macron’s Win Is an Opportunity for France and the EU: Lionel Laurent
