Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin “It’s a wonderful feeling, obviously,” acknowledges Caroline Graham Hansen, reacting to the news that her club side FC Barcelona Femeni have won their first league title in five seasons. She is speaking, however, from her native Norway, unable to share the moment with her teammates in Catalonia. “It’s not the way that I pictured it.” Unbeaten in 21 league games all season, Barcelona stood nine points ahead of defending champions Atlético when the season was abandoned in mid-March. They would have required six wins from their final nine matches to mathematically secure a first title in five years. On Friday, the Spanish Federation (RFEF) ratified a decision to end all non-professional soccer seasons in the country at the point they were cancelled. For Barcelona's women's team, this meant they could start celebrating a fifth La Liga title. “In my head it was just a matter of time when you look at the table,” believes … [Read more...] about FC Barcelona Women Earn La Liga Title, But It’s Bittersweet For Caroline Graham Hansen

Today’s ‘Heardle’ Answer And Clues For Saturday, January 14
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin I don’t tend listen to music while I’m working. My brain can’t process lyrics I understand and words I’m trying to write at the same time, so I typically don’t bother. When I do fire up Apple Music at my desk, it’s usually to listen to something sung in a language I don’t understand or instrumentals, like Gustavo Santaolalla’s gorgeous score for The Last of Us . I can’t wait to hear more of his music when HBO’s adaptation of the game premieres on Sunday. Anyway, there’s a new Heardle song. Clues and the answer are coming up. In case this is your first time trying the game, here’s how to play Heardle : You will hear the first second of a reasonably well-known song. Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin On Monday evening in Zürich, former FC Barcelona Femení head coach Lluís Cortés is set to be named as the Best FIFA Women's Coach for 2021 after winning an unprecedented treble of Spanish league, Cup and UEFA Champions League with the Catalan club. However, just two days after the end of that season, Cortés resigned claiming he no longer had the energy to continue. The 35-year-old made the surprise choice at the height of his powers, after reaching the pinnacle of the women's game just 30 months after taking his first position as the head coach of a team. Yet the burden of managing a club like Barcelona during a Covid-pandemic which elongated the Spanish club season to run for 353 days in the year was proving too much of a physical and emotional strain on Cortés. Speaking to me from his home in Spain, Cortés tells me "it was a wonderful season. For a Barça supporter like me, it was like a dream to win the treble. Want The Existing Managers In Your Investment Portfolio To Become More Diverse And Inclusive? Try This
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Conventional wisdom is that for asset owners that try to minimize manager churn, earnest commitment to increasing allocations to diverse-owned and diverse-led managers takes time to implement, and for asset owners that favor concentration, it can be challenging to add new managers to a portfolio, which slows the rate of progress. The conventional wisdom is not enough: asset owners can accelerate equity and inclusion in their existing investment portfolios through monitoring of and engagement with existing managers. This article—the sixth and final article in a series on building diverse and inclusive institutional investment portfolios—draws from a guide for asset owners that Blair Smith and Troy Duffie of Milken Institute and I co-authored with significant input from the Milken Institute’s DEI in Asset Management Executive Council , Institutional Allocators for Diversity Equity and Inclusion and its cousin … [Read more...] about Want The Existing Managers In Your Investment Portfolio To Become More Diverse And Inclusive? FTX Secretly Channeled A $50 Million Loan To Its Bahamian Bank Through An Executive’s Company
The loan was among several deals struck with Jean Chalopin, the head of Deltec and Moonstone banks — and co-creator of Inspector Gadget — who forged a lucrative relationship with FTX. I n late 2021, Deltec was well on its way to becoming one of the world’s most consequential crypto banks — but it needed money. An obscure Bahamian bank born from private wealth management, it had found a profitable, yet risky new role as the banker of choice for crypto giants. After signing on Tether, a wildly popular "asset-backed" stablecoin that had been dropped by traditional financiers, Deltec amassed a roster of white hot clients, among them the $32 billion crypto exchange FTX, then one of the largest. Before FTX collapsed in November, it appeared flush with cash, spending lavishly across the Bahamas, while its founder Sam Bankman-Fried was lauded as a “future trillionaire.” Amid the dollar signs surrounding his new client, Deltec chairman Jean Chalopin saw an answer to his … [Read more...] about FTX Secretly Channeled A $50 Million Loan To Its Bahamian Bank Through An Executive’s Company
