IPL 2021 | Early exits as COVID-19 cases surge in India, BCCI says league will go on

April 26, 2021 by www.moneycontrol.com

The Indian Premier League trophy (Image courtesy: Twitter/@IPL, BCCI) Anxiety pierced through the Indian Premier League (IPL)'s bio-secure bubble on April 26 with leading Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and some Australian players withdrawing from the league amid the escalating COVID-19 crisis in India even as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) insisted that the glitzy league will go on. The 34-year-old Ashwin, competing for Delhi Capitals, decided to take a break saying that his family is currently "putting up a fight against COVID-19" and he wants to support them. He hopes to return to the side "if things go in the right direction". However, Andrew Tye (Rajastan Royals) and the duo of Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa (both Royal Challengers Bangalore) withdrew as apprehension set in after a couple of weeks went by smoothly for the league being held in front of empty stands across nine venues. While Zampa and Richardson have not yet spoken about … [Read more...] about IPL 2021 | Early exits as COVID-19 cases surge in India, BCCI says league will go on

IPL 2021 | SRH vs DC: Delhi Capitals rely on Rishabh Pant against Sunrisers’ Rashid Khan

April 25, 2021 by www.moneycontrol.com

Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant during an 2021 IPL match (Image courtesy: Twitter/@IPL, BCCI) Rishabh Pant's brute power will be put to test against Rashid Khan's bagful of tricks in an Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter where Delhi Capitals (DC) will start as favourites against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) due to their better bowling resources. The much-criticised Chepauk track will host its 10th and final IPL game of the season in which both Pant and his opposite number David Warner would pray for a decent surface for their flamboyant batters. With only a couple of first innings total in excess of 170 across nine games at the venue, the slow and gripping surface at the MA Chidambaram Stadium tests the skills of the batsmen in a different manner. Possibly, it's the ability to muscle the ball that will come in handy on this track and hence the DC skipper's role as a batsman will become all the more important. While Shikhar Dhawan is in good form and Prithvi Shaw … [Read more...] about IPL 2021 | SRH vs DC: Delhi Capitals rely on Rishabh Pant against Sunrisers’ Rashid Khan

The devastation has been widespread, with a high number of stocks down over 50%. Due to this, the Nasdaq Composite, S&P 500 Growth (SPYG) and Russell 2000 (All and Growth) segments of the market have confirmed their bear market status. The O’Neil methodology tends to use -25% from highs as the threshold for a bear market. Taking the commonly used -20% from highs, the S&P 500 and Russell 2000 Value have also reached the threshold. Only S&P 500 Value and Dow Industrials have not. In our January 28, 2022 Forbes article, we noted that after two consecutive failed Follow-Through Days (FTDs)*, triggered by an undercut of prior established lows, historically (using the S&P 500 since … [Read more...] about Bear Markets & Market Bottoms

Tourism officials ramp up marketing campaigns to target short-haul markets

May 27, 2022 by thethaiger.com

Tourism officials are looking to short-haul markets to attract holidaymakers during the off-peak season, with a number of marketing events planned. Thanet Phetsuwan from the Tourism Authority of Thailand says places like India, Australia, Singapore, and Malaysia are the target markets. “This strategic push for short-haul markets aims to create a quick win, attracting both repeat and first-time visitors all year round. We will focus on quality tourists from niche segments such as wellness, weddings and honeymoons, sport tourism and luxury.” In a Bangkok Post report today, Thanet says new transport infrastructure such as Bang Sue Grand Station in Bangkok, as well as the M6 motorway to the north-eastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima, in addition to the high-speed rail service between Laos and China, can help bring travellers from elsewhere in Southeast Asia and eventually, China. For now, the agency is focusing on Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia, as tourist numbers from those … [Read more...] about Tourism officials ramp up marketing campaigns to target short-haul markets

How A Female Tech Founder Leveraged Her Skills In The Organic Biological Garden Market

May 25, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The lawn and garden market is projected to reach $26.3 billion by 2020, according to Allied Market Research. Gardening can lift your spirits and help make you feel peaceful and content. Yet, something good for you mentally isn't necessarily good for the environment. The non-organic chemicals in pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers can be toxic to the environment . Through her capital and deal flow pipeline for early-stage female tech founders, Vinetta Project, Vanessa Dawson started working with consumer packaged goods (CPG) corporations like P&G. Because smaller CPG brands are often better able to address millennial and generation Z consumer demands, established companies are accelerating investment in emerging brands. Farmers and researchers have been developing sustainable ingredients in pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers. IPL 2021 | DC vs RCB: Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore look to outsmart each other in ‘battle of equals’

April 27, 2021 by www.moneycontrol.com

Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant during an 2021 IPL match (Image courtesy: Twitter/@IPL, BCCI) Seeing the loss in their previous game as a blip, Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will have to be at their best to beat a formidable Delhi Capitals (DC) unit in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Ahmedabad on April 27. While RCB will have to shrug off their 69-runs thrashing at the hands of Chennai Super Kings in their last game and start afresh, Delhi’s confidence would be boosted by their thrilling ’Super Over’ win against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 25. Up against Delhi Capitals, RCB will need to address their middle-order woes, to return to winning ways, in what could be touted as a battle of equals. Read: RCB's Adam Zampa, Kane Richardson withdraw citing personal reasons For the RCB, it will be important that the openers- the in-form Devdutt Padikkal (171 runs) and Kohli (151 runs)- continue to provide a solid start at the Narendra Modi … [Read more...] about IPL 2021 | DC vs RCB: Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore look to outsmart each other in ‘battle of equals’

US labour market hot, but declining profits cast shadow over economy

May 27, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A WASHINGTON (May 26): The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits fell more than expected last week as the labour market remains tight amid strong demand for workers, despite rising interest rates and tightening financial conditions. But the outlook for the economy is uncertain, with other data on Thursday showing corporate profits falling across the board in the first quarter. Some economists believe the erosion of profits and falling share prices could force companies to pause hiring or start laying off workers. Several retailers, including Walmart Inc have lowered their full-year earnings forecasts, citing high inflation. Snap, the parent of Snapchat, issued a profit warning this week, sparking a sell-off of social media stocks. "The biggest expense for most companies is labor always," said Christopher Rupkey, chief economist at FWDBONDS in New York. "High-flying tech companies have seen their share prices plummet which will force … [Read more...] about US labour market hot, but declining profits cast shadow over economy
