The Wine Area In California With The Most Old Vines Makes Concentrated Reds But Also Unique White Wines

June 26, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin After a particularly grueling work trip of traveling through ten countries in ten days, Rodney Tipton told his wife that during the few minutes of downtime, he had the chance to listen to the song "Acquiesce" from singer K.D. Lang and that it inspired him to one day have a property and call it Acquiesce. His wife, Susan, asked where this property would be and he replied, "I don't know, but we'll be surrounded by land, watch the sunrise and sunset and we'll be very happy there." Susan and Rodney had paid more than their fair share of dues after several years of working in the corporate world and raising three boys while having to relocate to five different states. They lived in Europe for a time and Susan fell in love with white Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine, although Châteauneuf-du-Pape has always been known for their red wines. And so, she thought their Acquiesce dream of finding a piece of paradise could also include growing … [Read more...] about The Wine Area In California With The Most Old Vines Makes Concentrated Reds But Also Unique White Wines

Hillary’s Highly Paid IT Guru At State Department Had No National Security Experience

September 4, 2015 by dailycaller.com

Hillary Clinton’s politically appointed State Department information technology manager had no national security experience and may have enjoyed a 55 percent pay hike after Clinton departed as secretary of state in February 2013, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation. Bryan Pagliano joined Clinton in 2009 as a top-level IT strategist and adviser. He previously was IT director of Clinton’s unsuccessful campaign for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination. The White House personnel office must approve political appointees before they are hired. Pagliano was hired as a GS-15 even though he had no national security experience or security clearance. He was paid $140,000 annually at the outset but that was reduced to $136,000 in 2011 and 2012, according to the Asbury Park Press, which posts federal compensation data. In addition to his government salary, Pagliano also received compensation directly from the Clinton family, but did not list it on his annual … [Read more...] about Hillary’s Highly Paid IT Guru At State Department Had No National Security Experience

In the order he also stated that the Attorney General continue to identify individuals who meet the eligibility requirements under the CARES Act, the First Step Act “ ... for release as part of the DOJ’s efforts to mitigate the impact and spread of COVID-19 ... ” However, the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is falling short of following through on the CARES Act and implementing the First Step Act, leaving many people in prison. One can bet that it will not be before the mid-term elections in November and could likely extend through another COVID-19/flu season of 2023. Sunday Conversation: Why MUNA Is Music’s Next Great Band

June 26, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin There is no one path to success in the music industry. So the stories can often be unpredictable. Like a band leaving their major label deal behind and then becoming the next big thing in music. Certainly doesn't sound like a blueprint to music stardom. And yet that is exactly the unique road L.A.-based trio MUNA find themselves on. After the trio of Katie Gavin, Josette Maskin and Naomi McPherson released their second album, Saves the World , in 2019, the band parted ways with RCA. While that could have been disastrous for some, it has turned out to be the best thing that could have ever happened to MUNA. The band took the time during the COVID lockdown to reassess who they wanted to be as a group, signed with Phoebe Bridgers' Saddest Factory Records label and just released their brilliant third album, MUNA , this past Friday (June 24). Suddenly the trio have become press darlings and are the next great band in … [Read more...] about Sunday Conversation: Why MUNA Is Music’s Next Great Band

The CEO of this airline told pilots to work through fatigue, massive backlash followed

June 10, 2022 by www.moneycontrol.com

The CEO of Wizz Air has drawn the ire of pilot unions after suggesting that too many crew members were refusing to fly because of fatigue. According to The Guardian , Wizz Air CEO Jozsef Varadi told staff in an internal briefing that too many employees were taking time off due to fatigue at a time when the aviation industry is facing a staff crunch that has led to disrupted flight schedules. “We are all fatigued but sometimes it is required to take the extra mile,” said Varadi. “I understand that fatigue is a potential outcome of the issues, but once we are starting stabilising the rosters, we also need to take down the fatigue rate. “I mean, we cannot run this business when every fifth person of a base reports sickness because the person is fatigued,” the Wizz Air CEO said. According to CNN , pilot fatigue is taken seriously in the aviation industry as it can lead to accidents and affect flight safety. Given that pilots often work long and unpredictable hours, the … [Read more...] about The CEO of this airline told pilots to work through fatigue, massive backlash followed

AFP FILE PHOTO LOS AGELES — Extreme weather in Alaska that has brought record high temperatures and torrential downpours has left authorities in the far northern US state warning of “Icemageddon”. Huge sheets of ice are blocking roads and choking traffic in Fairbanks, Alaska’s second largest city, reported the state’s transportation department, which has coined the neologism — a play on “Armageddon” — to describe the chilly impasse. “We’re experiencing an unprecedented series of winter storms,” the department tweeted. Senator Wonders If Hillary Is Covering Legal Expenses For Tech Firm That Managed Her Email Server

November 26, 2015 by dailycaller.com

Republican Iowa Sen. [crscore]Chuck Grassley[/crscore], the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is questioning whether Hillary Clinton paid legal and public relations expenses for a former State Department aide and a tech company that worked on her private email system. “As you are aware, such arrangements can pose conflict-of-interest issues,” Grassley wrote in a letter he sent on Tuesday to attorneys representing Clinton and several of her State Department aides, including Bryan Pagliano, the IT staffer who managed Clinton’s email system while she was secretary of state. Grassley appears concerned that Clinton’s former aides and the tech companies she has hired to manage her mysterious email system would continue to work on her behalf rather than provide information on the email arrangement to investigators. “It is important for the Committee to know whether Secretary Clinton and her attorneys are providing financial support, legal support, or other coordination to … [Read more...] about Senator Wonders If Hillary Is Covering Legal Expenses For Tech Firm That Managed Her Email Server

Juul Funded High Schools, Recruited Social Media Influencers To Reach Youth, House Panel Charges

July 25, 2019 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin A House panel revealed for the first time internal documents from Juul Labs that Democrats said detailed the e-cigarette company’s plan to directly reach teenagers. The hearing, which featured Juul cofounder James Monsees and chief administration officer Ashley Gould, comes as part of a House Oversight Committee investigation into the company’s role in what the Food and Drug Administration has dubbed a youth vaping epidemic. A report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that the amount of high schoolers who used e-cigarettes jumped to 20.8% in 2018 from 11.7% the previous year. The panel requested last month that Juul turn over a wide-ranging set of internal communications related to its marketing and social media strategies. Panel members used some of those documents to question executives about the San Francisco company’s efforts to recruit social media influencers and to talk to teenagers face-to-face. … [Read more...] about Juul Funded High Schools, Recruited Social Media Influencers To Reach Youth, House Panel Charges

‘Back to zero’: Why last-minute assignment makes Ryza feel like a newbie

June 27, 2022 by entertainment.inquirer.net

Ryza Cenon Horror is one of the genres Ryza Cenon finds most challenging in acting. But while she has already starred in a horror movie in the past, her latest one, “Rooftop,” presented a different dynamic: In her 2016 film, “Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B,” she was the one who did the pursuing; this time, it was the other way around. “Back then, I played a manananggal. But this one is different because I’m the one getting scared away. I feel like that’s the toughest thing—convincing people that you’re scared and making them feel the same way,” Ryza said in a recent virtual conference for the said Vivamax film directed by Yam Laranas. “And if they’re able to relate to you, then that means you did a good job.” Making things more difficult, she pointed out, is her lack of practice. In 2020, Ryza took a break from show biz in preparation for motherhood. Did she feel rusty in her first project after giving birth to her firstborn? “Super!
