Twice in the past six months, San Antonio’s business leaders have publicly allied themselves with Mayor Ron Nirenberg and against the city’s public safety unions — and came up short. Some of the city’s wealthiest executives spent nearly $1.7 million on a campaign to defeat a trio of union-backed charter amendments aimed at kneecapping a loyal ally of theirs, then-City Manager Sheryl Sculley. The result? San Antonio voters approved two of the amendments in the November elections. Sculley announced her resignation soon after. There was a newly-opened men’s clothing store located in an affluent area I would drove by frequently when my son was nine-years-old. As we passed by, he would say, “Mom, there is the suit guy standing in his door way looking down the street again.” Often, we would catch the seemingly desperate business owner peering down the street as if hoping someone was on their way into his store. The 42,700-square-foot business center is at 10303 Colonel Glenn Road. Tiffany Earl Williams is manager of Lil Holdings and incorporated the firm in January. Lil Holdings borrowed $4.5 million from Barclays Capital Real Estate Inc. of New York. The mortgage matures in 2029. The loan was arranged by Marcus & Millichap Capital Corp., said Robert Bhat of Marcus & Millichap. The firm is a subsidiary of publicly traded Marcus & Millichap Inc., which is a commercial real estate investment services firm with offices in the United States and Canada.
