AirAsia X to fly to Tokyo and Osaka in Japan

Dialog’s 4Q net profit falls 15% on higher project cost, losses in some projects
- A + A KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 18): Dialog Group Bhd's net profit fell 14.65% to RM118.25 million for the fourth quarter ended June 30, 2022 (4QFY22), from RM138.54 million a year earlier, on higher project cost and losses in some of the projects under both its local downstream and international businesses. Earnings per share slipped to 2.1 sen from 2.46 sen previously, the group's Bursa Malaysia filing on Thursday (Aug 18) showed. Quarterly revenue however rose 29.4% to RM675.65 million from RM522.14 million following increased business activities in both local and international operations. For the full FY22, Dialog saw its net profit drop 6.47% to RM508 million from RM543.14 million in the previous financial year, despite revenue rising 44.04% to RM2.32 billion from RM1.61 billion. Oil rises as strong US demand eases fears of economic slowdown
- A + A (Aug 18): Oil rose for a second day as a bullish US stockpile report eased fears of an economic slowdown. West Texas Intermediate climbed as much as 2.2% to over US$90 a barrel on Thursday. This week’s Energy Information Administration report offset some of the gloom over a potential recession. US crude stockpiles sank by 7.06 million barrels last week, exports rose to a record and gasoline demand climbed to the highest this year. The report surprised markets by signaling “the fundamentals may not be as negative to crude as thought just a week ago,” said Dennis Kissler, senior vice president of trading at BOK Financial. “However, traders are still worried about the overall economic outlook going forward, it’s keeping a very nervous trade to the futures market” Prices are fluctuating partially because of declining market liquidity. Air India plans to increase international flights to Dubai and Qatar as part of winter schedule
As part of plans to increase its presence on international routes, Air India plans to start new flights to Qatar and Dubai as part of its winter schedule. The airline plans to add four weekly flights from Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi to Dubai, multiple company officials told Moneycontrol. The airline is also looking to add six weekly flights between India and Qatar, between Delhi, Mumbai, and Doha, depending on available slots. "Air India is looking to take advantage of the high passenger traffic to Dubai and Qatar due to the FIFA World Cup in November," a senior company official said. While Air India is confident about increasing weekly flights to Doha as part of the winter schedule, adding flights to Dubai may need some government approvals. The S&P 500 has now climbed 15% from its lows in mid-June, while the Nasdaq has clawed back 20% since then. That could technically be described as a new bull market for the index. A 20% retracement from a recent low fits the bill—or the bull—but there are a lot of opinions about that. But we can't deny the strength of the rally, especially when we dig into the charts.
