(CTN News) – Over the last few seasons, Dillon Brooks has gained a bit of a reputation for being one of the more aggressive players on the team. It is well known that the Memphis Grizzlies winger was ejected from a playoff game during the last postseason for a cheap shot he committed against Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II, and on Thursday, he was involved in an altercation with another opposing player. Another Cleveland Cavaliers player, Donovan Mitchell, was the one to get hit by the ball this time. When Dillon Brooks was preparing to make a layup in the third quarter with just under six minutes remaining in the game, Evan Mobley stepped in and altered Dillon Brooks’ attempt. He ended up wandering out of bounds. Mitchell was trying to save the ball by grabbing it with his hands, but Dillon Brooks, who was on the ground, hit him in the groin with the ball. There was a fight between the two teams as Mitchell tossed the ball off Brooks, who was still … [Read more...] about Dillon Brooks, Donovan Mitchell Ejected After Throwing Ball At Grizzlies’ Wing

How CEOs Can Bring Out Their Human Side In A Hybrid World
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Group Chief Executive at Kin + Carta Europe , delivering end-to-end digital services for the world’s leading businesses. What are CEOs for? For me, our main role is to feed, drive and energize a team. This is often best done in person and in small doses, although it can be almost as effective remotely. It’s a question of how you can be ‘with the people’ when and wherever they need you. CEOs are experienced hybrid workers. In most organizations, whether they're global or have a few offices in one country, the CEO cannot be in the same place as their entire team at the same time. In many ways, our working lives haven’t necessarily changed that much post-pandemic. At a time when teams are often split between home and office, we need to make the most of every interaction we have with our colleagues. This has meant dialing up the need to be more considerate and open to listening—whatever the conversation, … [Read more...] about How CEOs Can Bring Out Their Human Side In A Hybrid World

Big stimulus unlikely as China considers steps to support consumers-sources
BEIJING – China’s policymakers plan to show more support for domestic demand this year but are likely to stop short of splashing out big on direct consumer subsidies, keeping their focus mainly on investment, three sources close to policy discussions said. In recent weeks, top policymakers have repeatedly signalled their intention to work towards harvesting the consumer power of China’s 1.4 billion people, after economic growth in 2022 slumped to one of its weakest levels in nearly half a century. That has raised expectations that large-scale household stimulus measures could be announced at an annual parliament meeting in March. Prominent academics have felt emboldened to speak publicly about sizeable demand-side measures such as 1 trillion yuan ($148.28 billion) or more in nationwide consumption vouchers. The sources close to policy discussions, however, expect China to stick more closely to its familiar playbook of policies to support key industries and splurge on … [Read more...] about Big stimulus unlikely as China considers steps to support consumers-sources
Govt spend will boost infra but concerns around public private partnership not addressed: Vinayak Chatterjee.
The central government has emphasised capital expenditure in the economy but it still has not addressed the issues surrounding public-private partnerships in the country, which needs to be urgently looked into, said Vinayak Chatterjee, founder and managing trustee, The Infravision Foundation. " I am not particularly optimistic (about the sucess of the PPP model in India) because I have not seen any, shall I say, strenuous or concerted attempt to address the ills of PPP, to address the issues that made PPP fall," Chatterjee said. He added that while the Centre’s move to increase capital expenditure on infrastructure in 2023-24 is an encouraging move to drive India’s economy and will push the country’s gross fixed capital formation (GFCF) to be around 7.5-8 percent of GDP in the next financial year, “Just a year after recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, if India's GFCF touches 7.5-8 percent in FY24, this is an encouraging sign for the country’s economy,” Chatterjee said. … [Read more...] about Govt spend will boost infra but concerns around public private partnership not addressed: Vinayak Chatterjee.

Budget 2022 | Government strikes a fine balance between growth and fiscal consolidation
The Union Budget for 2022-23 (FY23) announced on February 1 is clearly prepared within tough fiscal constraints. The backdrop for the Budget is defined by a steeply elevated public debt hovering near 90 percent for the general government (i.e., central and states together) and a significant shortfall of the order of 55.4 percent in the expected privatisation receipts during FY22. Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for achieving Aatmanirbhar Bharat has received an excellent response, with the potential to create 60 lakh new jobs and additional production of 30 lakh crore during the next Keycap digit five years. Moreover, additional spending on subsidies over the budgeted estimates — especially food (up 18 percent) and fertiliser (up 76.2 percent) subsidies — has gone up significantly during FY22 on account of elevated commodity prices and shortages. Allocation for MGNREGA scheme too had to be increased by 34.2 percent during FY22 from the budgeted Rs 730 billion to Rs … [Read more...] about Budget 2022 | Government strikes a fine balance between growth and fiscal consolidation
No major GST rationalisation, slab changes planned for now, says revenue secretary
India is not planning any major rationalisation to rates under its goods and services tax (GST) regime and is also not considering any convergence of the slabs as of now, revenue secretary Sanjay Malhotra has said. “Rationalisation of rates a continuing exercise but most of the work has already been done on the GST side,” Malhotra told CNBC-TV18 at a post- budget event on February 2. The GST Council, which comprises the Centre and states, is the apex decision-making body for the indirect tax regime, which was introduced in July 2017. Almost all recommendations of a group of ministers on rate rationalisation have been taken forward, Malhotra said. “But apart from smaller changes as of now we don’t have any major agenda insofar as GST rates are concerned,” he added. Asked if the convergence of GST slabs was on the agenda, he said, “Not for the moment.” Read More Revenue neutral rate The revenue secretary said that the effective GST rate continues to be … [Read more...] about No major GST rationalisation, slab changes planned for now, says revenue secretary
