Irish Drone Delivery Startup Expanding To U.S. And Mainland Europe

March 20, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin One of the world’s most successful drone delivery companies will be expanding to mainland Europe and the United States in 2023. Manna Aero has already done over 100,000 drone deliveries in multiple locations in Ireland, and is trending to hit over 1,000 deliveries per day in individual dense urban markets. But it won’t be instantly available everywhere. And Manna is not releasing its first target market in the U.S. “Nobody is to go full throttle up scaling,” says CEO Bobby Healy on a recent TechFirst podcast. “We're more interested in demonstrating we can operate in multiple markets, and that we can do, say, a thousand deliveries a day in a very dense area. And so that's what we'll be doing by this summer ... in Dublin.” Google sister company Wing is probably leading drone delivery in the U.S., right now, running deliveries in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in addition to other locations in the U.S. and globally. … [Read more...] about Irish Drone Delivery Startup Expanding To U.S. And Mainland Europe

March 21, 2023 by thethaiger.com

Photo via Facebook/ Toko The Royal Thai Police (RTP) are in the headlines once again for all the wrong reasons after a Thai woman accused RTP officers of kidnapping and extorting 1 million baht from her boss in the Din Daeng district of Bangkok . Police reported that initial CCTV footage revealed that two of the men in the criminal group looked similar to Immigration Bureau police inspectors but it wasn’t conclusive. Namee Saelee filed a complaint at Din Daeng Police Station yesterday, reporting that she and her Chinese employer, 62 year old Qi, were kidnapped on Friday, March 10, by a gang of six men, who looked like RTP officers. The 38 year old Thai woman revealed that she had been hired by Qi as an interpreter to help him with his passport and visa renewal at the Chaeng Watthana Government Complex on the day of the kidnapping. Namee met Qi at his house in Soi Pracha Songkhro 2 in the Din Deang district of Bangkok and Qi’s friend drove them to the visa … [Read more...] about Thai woman accuses RTP of kidnapping, extorting 1 million baht from her boss

What Is A Design Institution Today? London’s Design Museum Director Tim Marlow Considers

February 14, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin “I’ve always been attracted to the momentum of institutions,” begins the art historian Tim Marlow. “I like a busy place. I want to bring different audiences and for them to have communal experiences in a shared space.” He clarifies: “This is what museums do best.” As director and chief executive of the Design Museum in London, a position he’s held since 2019, he’s in a prime spot to achieve this. I’m meeting Marlow at the museum west of the city in Kensington, housed in the former Grade II* listed Commonwealth Institute. A curious building with its place in time, it opened in 1962 to inform and educate about the Commonwealth of Nations. The listing notes say its founding came “at a critical moment in the evolution of the modern Commonwealth out of the old Empire.” Meanwhile, the design and displays conveyed a “sense of idealism and a new start.” It, therefore, feels like a fitting place to be occupied by a museum also … [Read more...] about What Is A Design Institution Today? How To Use Networking To Transform Your Career: A Conversation With Michael Melcher

March 20, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin We all know networking is important, but we don’t always prioritize it. Yet we should! The strongest personal brands have rich and diverse networks. I reached out to Michael Melcher, the author of the upcoming book Your Invisible Network: How to Create, Maintain, and Leverage the Relationships That Will Transform Your Career to inspire us to give networking the attention it deserves. William Arruda: There are lots of books on networking and relationship building. Why did you write this one, and what makes it different? Michael Melcher : People “kind of“ know the value of relationships. But they get stuck because relationship building has a lot of nuance and can be quite complex. How do you reach out to someone you haven’t kept up with? When you ask, should you be direct or indirect? What if reciprocity seems impossible, such as when the other person is more senior or more powerful than you? How exactly are you … [Read more...] about How To Use Networking To Transform Your Career: A Conversation With Michael Melcher

Banking Turmoil, Cost Cuts, Layoffs And More: How To Manage Through The Current Gloom And Doom

March 20, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin A senior executive texted me a couple hours before writing this article and encapsulated the present angst in corporate America. “How do I resist going to the dark side during these cost-cutting convos?" she asked. It seemed like it had only been a matter of months since her company pivoted from ambitious long-term goals to short-term contraction. Leaders aren’t alone in feeling more than a little disoriented. After an optimistic start to the year, economic headwinds are building once more as inflation remains stubborn at about 6.4%, higher than the 3.3% long-term average. And that doesn’t even consider what’s happening with banks . The turbulence is prompting CEOs to cut jobs and clamp down on other spending. Given the atmosphere, it’s easy to get the wrong message and overcorrect. Yet, the medium-term market outlook still looks good and many CEOs view current business streamlining as necessary to better … [Read more...] about Banking Turmoil, Cost Cuts, Layoffs And More: How To Manage Through The Current Gloom And Doom

What Brands Need To Know: Marketing Measurement And Attribution In 2023

March 20, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Among the advertising shifts seen in the past few years, including across social and search and display marketing, the farthest-reaching may be those due to changes in attribution and measurement. And as sustainable paid media scale has become harder to achieve in certain channels, brands must improve their ability to identify the advertising vehicles that drive contribution, not just attribution. This means they need increased visibility into the drivers of their revenue that’s not only incremental but also maintains profit margins. But this likely will happen on an aggregated basis, rather at an individual-user level. “With less visibility into attributable conversions, brands are moving away from looking at platform attribution as their true north and instead focusing on more holistic metrics like customer acquisition cost (CAC) and incrementality,” says Megan Conahan, EVP at Direct Agents , known for its digital … [Read more...] about What Brands Need To Know: Marketing Measurement And Attribution In 2023

Genesis Revisits Archival Performances On ‘BBC Broadcasts’

March 20, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin After a somewhat quiet start to the year, new archival rock and pop releases have popped up in the last months with some notable offerings from the likes of Genesis, Elton John, the Velvet Underground and more. Here’s the rundown: Genesis BBC Broadcasts (Rhino) Between 1970 and 1998, the BBC aired the music of Genesis exclusively as performance sessions and live concerts. Now those performances have been compiled for this new five-disc, 53-track box set curated by band co-founder Tony Banks, with most of this material unofficially unreleased until now. BBC Broadcasts is essentially a Genesis career summary beginning with the Peter Gabriel/progressive rock incarnation of the group that is the focus of Disc 1 (including “Watcher of the Skies,” “The Musical Box” “Stagnation”); the rest the material concentrates on the hugely classic and successful Tony Banks-Mike Rutherford-Phil Collins lineup that elevated the … [Read more...] about Genesis Revisits Archival Performances On ‘BBC Broadcasts’
