‘The David Hookstead Show’: We Can’t Let Evil Win

May 16, 2022 by dailycaller.com

It’s a great time to remember that you can’t let evil win in this world. On today’s episode of “The David Hookstead Show,” I spoke about the horrific massacre in Buffalo , New York , and how it’s the latest unfortunate reminder that bad people exist in this world. There’s no such thing as evil resting, and that means you have to have situational awareness of what’s going on around you at all times. Trust me, the bad guys don’t give a damn what the laws or the rules are. They’re human garbage looking to do bad things. You can watch me break it all down right at the start of the video below. I wish I didn’t have to talk about people being murdered on “The David Hookstead Show,” but I wouldn’t be doing my job if I just ignored it. People are in a lot of pain right now, and it’s important to remember that there are a lot more good people than bad people. My recent interview with the former three Delta Force guys is proof of the fact. Stay alert, stay safe, pay … [Read more...] about ‘The David Hookstead Show’: We Can’t Let Evil Win

Gov’t think tank warns against oil deregulation backslide

May 10, 2022 by business.inquirer.net

Calls for the revival of the price stabilization fund for oil have resurfaced in recent months as the successive and hefty fuel price hikes have put a dent in the budget of Filipino consumers, but a government think thank is urging policymakers to stay the course of reforms set in place in the late 1990s. A study released by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), however, said reinstating the Oil Price Stabilization Fund (OPSF) is not the solution to fuel price woes. During the campaign period, presidential candidates Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Manny Pacquiao proposed reinstating the OPSF should they win in this year’s election to shield the country from the impact of rising fuel costs, mainly driven by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Philippines is a net oil importer. Hence, global developments have a significant impact on pump prices locally. Adoracion Navarro, senior research fellow at the PIDS, said such a move would spell a reversal of the downstream oil … [Read more...] about Gov’t think tank warns against oil deregulation backslide

Retail’s Worry: As Philippines Trade Ramps Up – Will Bongbong Marcos Question America’s Love?

May 15, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin More than eighty percent of eligible voters turned out for the Philippines Presidential Election, and it looks a landslide victory for Ferdinand (Bongbong) Marcos Jr. While they are finishing the vote count, several media critics are already trying to punch holes in Bongbong’s stunning landslide victory. Some have pointed to the excesses of his father’s regime (of 36 years ago), while others have targeted his 92-year-old mother (Imelda). Some allege a closer friendship to China, but few have spent time examining the erosion of Philippine love for America – an important analysis for a former USA colony - where the average citizens really do love America. In bygone days, Capitol Hill pushed for closer ties with Manila but, sadly, the former pro-Philippine hawks have long since vacated the building. With Bongbong now on the rise, the U.S. Government is taking a fresh look at ways to improve the relationship. As everyone … [Read more...] about Retail’s Worry: As Philippines Trade Ramps Up – Will Bongbong Marcos Question America’s Love?

Bond traders reel as inflation hits world’s emerging local debt

May 16, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A (May 16): As spiraling inflation spreads across the globe, emerging-market bonds from Turkey to Thailand are feeling the brunt. Local-currency debt from developing nations -- which is far more sensitive to a country’s domestic inflationary pressures than dollar denominated equivalents — has slumped almost 9% this year, the most since at least 2008, according to a Bloomberg index. There’s unlikely to be any relief soon as central bankers around the world attempt to control surging prices by raising interest rates even more aggressively — potentially risking growth in doing so. That certainly wasn’t the plan. Many developing economies led the charge in rate hikes last year, getting ahead of policy makers in the US and hoping to avoid a redux of the 2013 taper tantrum. But with inflation raging in the US and the strong dollar pressuring currencies elsewhere, these countries are now making a new rulebook. Policy makers across emerging nations are either … [Read more...] about Bond traders reel as inflation hits world’s emerging local debt

May 10, 2022 by business.inquirer.net

The Department of Energy (DOE) has released the terms of reference for auctioning off 2,000 megawatts of renewable energy (RE). Under the guidelines, renewable capacities to be offered are broken down as follows: 1,400 MW for Luzon, 400 MW for the Visayas and 200 MW in Mindanao. For Luzon, the agency is seeking suppliers for 900 MW of solar, 360 MW of wind, 80 MW of hydro and 60 MW of biomass. The target capacity for the Visayas is 260 MW of solar, 120 MW of biomass and 20 MW of wind. Meanwhile, in Mindanao, the capacity requirement is 100 MW of solar, and 50 MW each of hydro and biomass. Brazil supreme court sides with Netflix over gay Jesus comedy

January 10, 2020 by entertainment.inquirer.net

BRASÍLIA, Brazil — Brazil’s highest court on Thursday rejected a lower court’s decision to remove from Netflix a comedy depicting Jesus Christ in a gay relationship. The head of the Supreme Federal Court, Judge Antonio Dias Toffoli, sided with the streaming platform’s appeal against a temporary injunction banning the movie. It denied the idea that the movie was insulting to Christians. “One cannot suppose that a humorous satire has the ability to weaken the values of the Christian faith, whose existence is traced back more than two thousand years, and which is the belief of the majority of Brazlian citizens,” the judge said. The film, entitled “The First Temptation of Christ”, by the Brazilian production company Porta dos Fundos, came out on December 3 and drew strong criticism from conservative politicians in the mainly Catholic country, from the church itself and from evangelicals. It depicts Jesus returning home with his boyfriend Orlando after 40 days in the desert, as … [Read more...] about Brazil supreme court sides with Netflix over gay Jesus comedy

May 13, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Whether you’re a manager at a company with 3,000 employees or three, something that leaders across industries have learned in the past two years is that giving employees more flexibility is key to retention and recruiting of new hires. The pandemic forced the majority (~70%) of the US workforce to adapt in a plethora of different ways to keep everyone healthy while still continuing to work efficiently. Companies that previously had 0% of their employees working remotely had to figure out how to seamlessly transfer all operations to a 100% digital environment. While obviously a ton of bad things came from the pandemic, that’s not to say there weren’t learnings and lessons discovered across the board. The reality is that more talent in every part of the country, and the world, now has access to greater opportunities because of the increased normalization of remote work. Gone are the days where you have to live in San Francisco … [Read more...] about 30 Executives’ Perspectives On Remote, Hybrid, And In-Office Work
