Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin This post was republished on 6/25. Well, it finally happened, and it took another juggernaut to knock Stranger Things season 4 off the #1 spot on Netflix’s top 10 list after nearly a month planted there. That would be season 3 of The Umbrella Academy, Netflix’s hyper-successful non-Marvel or DC superhero series about an odd band of brothers and sister dealing with time travel paradoxes upon their return. Stranger Things season 4 almost lasted in the #1 spot until July 1, which is when part 2 of the season airs with the final two episodes, which will no doubt propel it to #1 yet again for a period of time. Right now, the show is slowly inching toward Squid Game’s viewership record, but it will need those final two episodes to perform even better than the previous seven if it hopes to catch it. Regardless, Stranger Things season 4 has set all manner of English-language records for the service, and even if … [Read more...] about ‘Stranger Things’ Dethroned In Netflix’s Top 10 List By A New Show

A ‘Stranger Things’ Star Guessed What The Upcoming Spin-Off Will Be
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Despite the fact that Netflix itself has yet to confirm or announce a Stranger Things spin-off, it absolutely exists, and the Duffer Brothers are operating under the clear mandate that they essentially have a blank check to do whatever they want after the success of the original series. That apparently includes talking about it and confirming it, despite the fact that Netflix itself hasn’t done this. In a recent interview with Variety , they talk about how they’re not going to shoot it until Stranger Things season 5 is over, even if in theory, they could do both in parallel. They tease that it’s going to be different than what anyone expects, which may include some past guesses like that one weird episode with Elle’s “siblings” that were never revisited: "The reason we haven't done anything is just because you don't want to be doing it for the wrong reasons, and it was just like, 'Is this something I would want to … [Read more...] about A ‘Stranger Things’ Star Guessed What The Upcoming Spin-Off Will Be
Sony Studios Defy Jim Ryan’s Neutrality Request After Roe V Wade Overturned
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin We are seeing a wide range of reactions from game studios across the industry in the wake of the overturning of Roe V. Wade by the Supreme Court yesterday. They range from Destiny developer Bungie, who immediately published a policy that they would pay for employees in affected states to travel to ensure their reproductive rights remained intact, to EA, who crafted a vague statement about “the well-being of our people” that seems crafted to be as inoffensive as possible. But Sony is a special case. Previously, when the leaked Roe draft went out earlier this year, Jim Ryan sent an email to Sony employees saying that “we owe it to each other and to PlayStation’s millions of users to respect differences of opinion among everyone in our internal and external communities. Respect does not equal agreement. But it is fundamental to who we are as a company and as a valued global brand.” He then went on to discuss how he … [Read more...] about Sony Studios Defy Jim Ryan’s Neutrality Request After Roe V Wade Overturned
Sales of TV antennas on the rise, here’s how to buy one
About 10 times a month, Anthony Leyba climbs up on top of a stranger’s roof or attic to install a TV antenna. That’s about twice as often as he did three years ago, when business picked up again after the U.S. transitioned to digital TV in 2009. Back then, customers bought antennas just to keep getting local TV channels for free. These days, customers call him because they’re cutting cable or satellite TV in favor of internet video, like Netflix or Sling TV. “That’s one of the reasons why I started my company,” said Leyba, owner of Digital Concepts in Denver. “I saw it coming. I was formerly installing cable for Comcast and was seeing a lot of people ordering internet only.” While the newer video services are cheaper, most don’t offer all of the local channels, which are still free if you have a decent TV antenna. And that’s why TV antenna sales and installation is growing years after people ditched cathode-ray-tube TVs. Deciding to add an antenna is the easy part. Picking the … [Read more...] about Sales of TV antennas on the rise, here’s how to buy one
5G is coming to Denver, and it’s not just for smartphones: It could mean super-fast internet at home, too
Starry, a Boston technology company, launched a 5G broadband service in Denver late last month, one it promises will bring, for the dollar spent, much faster and more reliable broadband services to thousands of people living in apartments and condos. “There is so little choice of internet-only service out there,” said Alex Moulle-Berteaux, the company’s chief operating officer. “Many of our subscribers are cord cutters.” Starry is targeting those frustrated with the slower and sometimes spotty DSL service from CenturyLink and the faster, but more expensive and entangled packages from Xfinity. It is bringing a third option to the table, 5G wireless . For those in reach of the signal, the network provides a minimum speed of 200 Megabits per second (Mbps), up and down, for a flat $50 a month, without caps on data usage, no equipment charges and no long-term contracts. Moulle-Berteaux said the company has speeds that are five times as fast. Starry represents a “fixed” use … [Read more...] about 5G is coming to Denver, and it’s not just for smartphones: It could mean super-fast internet at home, too
Behind The Scenes: OKC Thunder Rookie Jalen Williams’ Ascension Into Draft Lottery
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin “We draft people first and players second,” said Thunder GM Sam Presti last summer. When Santa Clara guard Jalen Williams was taken No. 12 overall in Thursday night’s draft, it was surprising to some. However, when you dig deeper into his game and personal story it makes complete sense. A late bloomer, Williams wasn’t on many NBA teams’ radars as a top pick until after his final college season. At the Thunder’s rookie introductory press conference on Saturday, Presti even admitted that the team didn’t truly consider Williams in the lottery until later in the draft process. “The truth on Jalen is our eyes really opened later to him in this process,” Presti said. “I wish I could tell you that last year at Santa Clara I could say we knew this guy was a lottery pick. That wasn’t the case.” It took a spectacular pre-draft process on and off the court to spark what ended up being a perfect scenario for both parties. … [Read more...] about Behind The Scenes: OKC Thunder Rookie Jalen Williams’ Ascension Into Draft Lottery

‘Sonic Origins’ Switch Review: A Great Introduction To ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ For Newer Players
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin What with the recent Sonic the Hedgehog movies doing so well at the box office, it was somewhat inevitable that we would get a gaming collection like this. However, Sonic Origins hasn’t phoned it in and is actually pretty great. Sonic Origins comprises of four Sonic games, the original Sonic the Hedgehog , Sonic CD , Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 . You can either play them in widescreen Anniversary mode (shown above), with infinite lives, or in Classic mode (shown below) that has a 4:3 aspect ratio and with a limited number of lives. This is actually quite a shrewd setup, as it means that newer players can slam through the four games in Anniversary mode and then try their skills at how the games were originally intended with Classic mode later on. You also get a Boss Rush mode and a new Mission Mode, which allows you to play through the games back-to-back. To bookend … [Read more...] about ‘Sonic Origins’ Switch Review: A Great Introduction To ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ For Newer Players
