Everything We Know About ‘Shadow And Bone’ Season 3 On Netflix
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Shadow and Bone season 2 spent a week on top of Netflix’s Top 10 charts , but it’s not a series that either had a pre-renewal ahead of season 2 for season 3, nor a lightning fast follow-up renewal. So no official news yet, but that’s not unusual when most of the time, it’s something like 4-6 weeks before Netflix issues a ruling one way or another. But in terms of what we know? A few things. First, the showrunner has said that not just season 3, but also a Six of Crows spin-off he’s writing depends on season 2’s performance. I do think that season 2 probably performed well enough to warrant a season 3, even by Netflix’s tough standards, as it would be pretty dumb to kill off yet another fantasy series before it has a chance to finish its main source material, and there’s only one more book in the central trilogy to go. Season 2 was also well-received by fans and critics, not that Netflix seems to care about that all that … [Read more...] about Everything We Know About ‘Shadow And Bone’ Season 3 On Netflix
The ‘Diablo 4’ Beta Does Not Inspire Hope For A Smooth Launch
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Across two beta weekends now, I’ve been dealing with a good amount of technical frustration with Diablo 4, a game I otherwise very much like . While I know “it’s a beta,” and Blizzard has said outright that there will be long lines and disconnects as they try to gather data for a smooth launch…I am not convinced this is going to be a smooth launch. It’s less than three months away now, and I very much don’t believe that Blizzard will be able to keep up with the tidal wave of players who arrive at launch, and that we will endure a fairly long period of problems. I think the best case scenario right now is to avoid something utterly devastating like Diablo 3’s Error 37 launch, but I still don’t think it’s going to go great. What’s been happening? For large chunks of the weekends, particularly during peak times, login queues have been extraordinarily long, usually 30-60 minutes, but sometimes as long as two hours. But it’s … [Read more...] about The ‘Diablo 4’ Beta Does Not Inspire Hope For A Smooth Launch

The lie of the hustle
One of the ways that gig companies have been able for years to define their workers as independent contractors is by exploiting the allure of individualism. The contractor has their freedom, the thinking goes, so why would they exchange that for a full-time job with benefits? “These words have gained a strange kind of prestige from downwardly mobile, college-educated tech workers,” said John Patrick Leary, the author of Keywords: The New Language of Capitalism . It was part of what Reddit’s founder, Alexis Ohanian, has called “hustle porn,” cheerleading multiple jobs and their backbreaking exertions, giving a cheerful spin to the full 30% of Americans who do something else for pay in addition to their full-time jobs, according to an NPR/Marist survey. Hustling and nimbleness and the like implied, however, that there is a slinky joy in picking up gear at a studio and dropping it off across town or selling CBD oil part time. Once called drably “another job,” these … [Read more...] about The lie of the hustle
3 Things To Remember On Your First Solo Backpacking Trip
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin In January 2018, I set off on the epic solo backpacking trip of a lifetime, traveling around Southeast Asia for two months before making my way down to Australia and New Zealand, where I spent a year in each country thanks to their respective Working Holiday Visa programs. For most of that time, I carried everything I needed in my trusty purple backpack and a smaller carry-on sized bag for my laptop and other important items. I embraced the backpacker lifestyle, keeping only what I needed and buying clothes I’d get a lot of use out of. Gone were my days of overpacking, since I knew I’d have to haul it around. Here are three things I learned during my long-term adventure that you can apply to any backpacking trip, even if it’s just a few weeks long. Choose The Right Backpack Looking back, this is … [Read more...] about 3 Things To Remember On Your First Solo Backpacking Trip
The Cleveland Browns And Elijah Moore Are A Potentially Perfect Marriage
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Deshaun Watson will be under tremendous pressure to deliver in his first full season with the Cleveland Browns in 2023 after an underwhelming start to his career with the team last year. Cleveland made another move to help him succeed this week, with the acquisition of Elijah Moore in a trade with the New York Jets. The trade brought to an end Moore’s two-year stay in New York after he was drafted in the second round out of Ole Miss in 2021, one in which he was not able to deliver on the significant promise he showed in college. Indeed, Moore’s final season with the Jets was largely defined by his frustration with his role in the offense, especially when Zach Wilson was at quarterback. He will now have the chance to start fresh, with the Jets receiving a second-round pick from the Browns in exchange for Moore and a third-round pick. That second-rounder could become part of the Jets’ presumptive trade for Aaron … [Read more...] about The Cleveland Browns And Elijah Moore Are A Potentially Perfect Marriage
