The U.S. stock market has had an incredible run since the financial crisis. So good, in fact, that if you had invested at the worst time in October 2007, right before the big crash, you still would have more than tripled your money by today. What's more, the S&P 500 doubled between Jan. 1, 2019, and Dec. 31, 2021 . It's more challenging now to find companies for a cheap price, especially well-known industry-leading companies. One solution is to pivot away from capital gains and focus instead on generating passive income. Here's why Procter & Gamble ( NYSE:PG ) , Kinder Morgan ( NYSE:KMI ) , and Starbucks ( NASDAQ:SBUX ) are three completely different but equally promising dividend stocks to buy in 2022. Image source: Getty Images. A rock-solid dividend-paying stalwart Few companies embody stability better than good old Procter & Gamble. This October, P&G will celebrate its 185th birthday. Over the last 65 years, P&G has raised its … [Read more...] about My 3 Favorite Dividend Stocks to Buy in 2022

Shares of Kinder Morgan ( NYSE:KMI ) have quietly gained 9% year to date as the energy sector continues to outperform the broader market. The largest natural gas pipeline infrastructure company in the U.S. is expected to report its fourth-quarter and full-year 2021 results in about a week. But it has already released expectations for 2022. Let's dive into Kinder Morgan's business and its 6.3% dividend yield to see what makes it a top dividend stock for 2022. Image source: Getty Images. A predictable business model Unlike other oil and natural gas stocks that benefited from seven-year high energy prices, Kinder Morgan's long-term take-or-pay and fee-based contracts dampen its ability to capture upside while also insulating it from steep losses during downturns. It's a double-edged sword that worked in Kinder Morgan's favor in 2020 and somewhat against it in 2021 . Overall, however, it's this very stability that gives Kinder Morgan the predictable cash flow … [Read more...] about My Top Dividend Stock to Buy for 2022 (and It’s Not Even Close)
Dividends may not be the only path for an individual investor's success, but if there's a better one, I have yet to find it. -- Josh Peters As Mr. Peters suggested, there can certainly be other routes to riches, but there's a strong case to be made for getting there via dividend-paying stocks. Here are five reasons to consider keeping some -- or much -- of your portfolio in dividend payers. Image source: Getty Images. 1. Solid, dependable companies If you stick with dividend payers, you're more likely to be investing in solid, dependable companies. That's because a company isn't likely to initiate a regular dividend unless its management is fairly certain that it will be able to pay it regularly. Companies facing challenging times may indeed reduce, suspend, or eliminate dividend payouts, but they will try hard to avoid that, as it looks bad and displeases investors. Thus, it's generally more mature companies that offer dividends -- companies that have excess cash to … [Read more...] about 5 Reasons to Invest in Dividend Stocks for Retirement
Ways to invest in the metaverse are as broad as the concept itself. Two companies I believe are great investment choices are Nvidia ( NASDAQ:NVDA ) and Unity Software ( NYSE:U ) . Both are helping artists and designers create the metaverse with visualization tools. Should the metaverse fade away without having a significant effect, each has ancillary segments that will keep the businesses afloat. Image source: Getty Images. 1. Nvidia The metaverse is solely online and must be powered with computer hardware. Knowing this, what better metaverse investment exists besides Nvidia? The company is known for its graphics processing units (GPUs) but has additional segments too. GPUs originally rendered 3D graphics but found other uses over time. Now GPUs power gaming systems, engineering simulations, and data centers because of their ability to process calculations quickly. Nvidia has expanded to become more than just a hardware company; it's a software provider too. … [Read more...] about The 2 Best Metaverse Stocks to Buy in 2022 and Beyond
This isn't clickbait: U.S. telecom giant and beloved dividend stock AT&T ( NYSE:T ) will very likely cut its dividend in 2022. Management hasn't shouted it from the mountaintops, but the evidence is right in front of us if we look closely enough. Nonetheless, dividend investors need not panic. The cut doesn't mean the business is in trouble, and AT&T's payout will still provide a solid passive income. So what's the deal? Here is what investors need to know about the state of its dividend. The cut is in the details AT&T has a pending deal to spin off WarnerMedia, AT&T's streaming and entertainment assets, and merge them with Discovery to form a stand-alone, new streaming company. AT&T shareholders will receive 71% of the shares of this new business, and shareholders of Discovery (also the proposed name of the new company) will receive the other 29%. Cannabis stocks aren't typically high on my list of go-to durable wealth creators -- except when it comes to Innovative Industrial Properties ( NYSE:IIPR ) . Between its highly repeatable business model, persistently rising cash flows, and valuable service it provides for the cannabis industry, Innovative Industrial Properties (IIP) is a great option to increase your chances of retiring as a millionaire. But that doesn't mean it's a ticket to get rich quickly nor is this company risk-free. Let's analyze how IIP makes money and why it might be a good fit for your portfolio. Image source: Getty Images. Landlords collect rents, and rents (eventually) make millionaires IIP is a highly specialized landlord for companies in the cannabis industry, but it isn't exactly a typical commercial property shop. Like all businesses, cannabis companies need liquid capital to finance their projects and grow. But because cannabis isn't federally legalized in the U.S., marijuana … [Read more...] about Could Innovative Industrial Properties Stock Help You Retire a Millionaire?
Warren Buffett stands atop the pantheon of history's most successful investors. If you were lucky enough to own a $3,000 stake in Berkshire Hathaway ( NYSE:BRK.A ) ( NYSE:BRK.B ) when he took control of the company in 1965, that position would now be worth nearly $81 million. The Oracle of Omaha's knack for finding high-quality long-term investment opportunities has led to market-crushing results, and his storied performance means the investing world tends to keep a close eye on his company's holdings. Let's take a closer look at five top stocks backed by Berkshire Hathaway that are worth buying and holding for the long term. Image source: The Motley Fool. 1. On the other hand, there's basically never been a … [Read more...] about Got $3,000? 5 Buffett Stocks to Buy and Hold Forever
Dogecoin ( CRYPTO:DOGE ) started as a joke. Its creators wanted to make a coin that no serious investor would consider. As things turned out, the joke is on them after the cryptocurrency's price rocketed nearly 3,000% last year. However, given its history, I can't take Dogecoin seriously. While its price could continue to rise as more speculators pile in, it could just as quickly become worthless if they lose interest in the cryptocurrency . Instead of speculating on something with a binary outcome like that, I prefer to utilize what's called intelligent speculation, a spin on Ben Graham' s value investing. It combines the diligent research and analysis Graham preached but exchanges the margin of safety he sought for the potential of earning an above-average return instead of an adequate one. One sector I believe is ripe for intelligent speculation is real estate investment trusts ( REITs ). Here are two REITs that I think have a high … [Read more...] about Forget Dogecoin and Buy These 2 REITs

Procter & Gamble ( NYSE:PG ) just gave shareholders some more reasons to celebrate. The consumer staples giant said on Wednesday morning that it gained market share even following booming demand over the past two years. Profitability is benefiting from rising prices, and cash flow is soaring too. The operating update put P&G on a stronger growth track than most investors expected. And the earnings picture is brightening despite surging costs. Let's take a closer look at three reasons why the stock looks even more attractive today. Image source: Getty Images. 1. P&G is beating sales targets Investors had been looking for P&G to post just a 3% sales uptick , which would have come on top of the prior year's 8% spike. Instead, the company reported 6% higher organic sales, with each of its five core divisions growing year over year. The fabric and home care segment, home to brands like Tide detergent, was a standout. The healthcare niche also received a … [Read more...] about 3 New Reasons to Love Procter & Gamble Stock
