How Smart Leaders Use the Now or Later Rule to Solve the Worst Thing About Remote Work
When everyone first shifted to remote work during the pandemic, it was like the world had been turned upside down. But it didn't take long for most teams to get on board. Leaders quickly realized there were fewer downsides than anticipated , and employees realized just how much they loved working from home ( and hated their commute ). At some point, though, things changed. Companies started to worry their teams weren't actually working, people started spending more time in meetings, and the result was that many teams were working longer hours and getting more burned out than they ever had in the office. All of a sudden, working remotely wasn't quite as appealing as it once was. Having run a remote company for more than seven years now, we've gone through the same ups and downs that everyone else has recently experienced. And if you ask me, the key factor in making remote work "work" is getting aligned as a team around when to use synchronous versus asynchronous … [Read more...] about How Smart Leaders Use the Now or Later Rule to Solve the Worst Thing About Remote Work

Influencer Bobby Kataria claims smoking video is from ‘dummy plane’ even as SpiceJet confirms authenticity
(Image credit: Bobby Kataria/Facebook) Instagram influencer Bobby Kataria, facing scrutiny for a video of him smoking on a plane, has claimed that the clip was from a shoot, even though the airline SpiceJet confirmed its authenticity and said it probed it back in January. Bobby Kataria told news agency ANI he was aware lighters were not allowed on planes. "The video in which I was seen smoking is not a normal airplane, it was a dummy plane and that was a part of my shooting in Dubai," Kataria claimed. The clip had emerged on social media on Thursday, prompting the Ministry of Civil Aviation to begin a probe. "There will be no tolerance towards such hazardous behaviour," Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said in response to the video. Close Meanwhile, SpiceJet, on whose plane the influencer shot the video, said the incident took place in January. Apple and T-Mobile Announce a Small Business Program That Includes an iPhone 13 With Business Essentials for $50 per Month
Earlier this year, Apple rolled out its Business Essentials plan for small businesses . The program includes device management, cloud storage, and support for a single monthly subscription. Businesses could also add AppleCare+, streamlining the process for getting service and repairs on those devices. "It's a brand new service from Apple that combines device management, storage, and support into a single subscription for small businesses, targeted to up to about 500 employees," Apple's SVP of enterprise product marketing, Susan Prescott, explained to me at the time . "It's designed to make managing Apple's devices, keeping them up and running, as fun as using them -- or, at least, as easy as using them." One of the key points is that it's designed for small businesses who don't necessarily have a dedicated IT staff. In that case, the responsibility often falls on the small business owner. Business Essentials offers a far easier way to manage up to 3 devices per user, … [Read more...] about Apple and T-Mobile Announce a Small Business Program That Includes an iPhone 13 With Business Essentials for $50 per Month
Organizational Resilience: What To Avoid In Order To Sustain A High-Performance Environment
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin CMO & cofounder nth Venture | LearnCdo | Empire Ecommerce. While taking the hard knocks to establish a meaningful and sustainable business, I've discovered and drawn on some insights that have helped me and others work through the chaos and stack the deck for success. What I've found is that a lot of it comes down to organizational resilience. Individual and organizational resilience is different. There is good, hard science—now mainstream in the U.S. military—on resilience at the individual level. The meat of the idea is best captured with a simple metaphor: A rock may be much harder than a bouncy ball, but throw it against a brick wall, and it might burst into a million pieces. Which is better when things go sideways and start flying? How does that translate to organizations? When organizations face pressure and failure, the individuals involved may be just fine, but their will to continue and … [Read more...] about Organizational Resilience: What To Avoid In Order To Sustain A High-Performance Environment
Shanghai to reopen all schools Sept 1 as lockdown fears persist
- A + A SHANGHAI (Aug 14): China's financial hub Shanghai said on Sunday that it would reopen all schools including kindergartens, primary and middle schools on Sept 1, after months of Covid-19 closures. The city will require all teachers and students to take nucleic acid tests for the coronavirus every day before leaving campus, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission said. It also called for teachers and students to carry out a 14-day "self health management" within the city ahead of the school reopening, the commission said in a statement. Shanghai shut all schools in mid-March before the city's two-month lockdown to combat its worst Covid outbreak in April and May. It allowed some students of high school and middle school to return to classrooms in June, while most of the rest continued home study for the remainder of the semester. The announcement on schools reopening brings great relief to many residents but fears about Covid lockdowns continue to … [Read more...] about Shanghai to reopen all schools Sept 1 as lockdown fears persist
