Close to 50,000 commercial vehicles have been seized by financiers across India, reported the Business Standard, quoting data from Delhi-based Indian Foundation of Transport Research and Training (IFTRT). “There are about 150 repossession yards across the country and most of them are overflowing with commercial vehicles. These vehicles are lying with financers,” the article quoted SP Singh, senior fellow at IFTRT, as saying. The report compares the current slowdown to the ones in 2008-09 and 2012-13, and highlights a worrying trend that shows 40 percent vehicles being less than one year old. Uber is in talks with Zomato to finalise a share-swap deal for UberEats, its food-delivery business in India, sources told The Economic Times. The ride sharing app is planning to infuse fresh capital up to $200 million (equivalent to around Rs 1,415 crore), as an essential part of the deal, the report said.Moneycontrol could not independently verify the report.The fresh investment by Uber might be along with some other investment funds, the article quotes a source as saying. Hundreds of AMU students protesting against the amended Citizenship Act clashed with police on Sunday at a campus gate, leaving 60 injured. After the protest, the adminstration announced closure of the university till January 5.Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Registrar Abdul Hamid said the police entered the campus late Sunday night and clashes were reported from inside. The Congress will announce a loan waiver for the poor and farmers in the state if voted to power, Haryana Congress chief Kumari Selja has said. In an interview to PTI, she said the Congress would not announce its chief ministerial candidate ahead of the elections and the same would be decided by the party high command after the polls.The state Congress chief said the loan waiver promise would be part of the manifesto for the October 21 Haryana assembly polls and the document would be unveiled soon.The Haryana Congress manifesto committee had submitted its report and final touches were being given to it, she said.Close "When our government comes to power, we will waive loans of the poor, especially people who take small loans.
