Your Business Decisions Are Only As Strong As Your Data
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Conal Gallagher is the CIO & CISO at both Flexera and its division Revenera, where he manages IT and information security programs. Clear visibility into the IT estate is a top priority for IT and business leaders. Unfortunately, it’s often difficult to achieve. While many IT asset management (ITAM) practitioners rely on a configuration management database (CMDB), those CMDBs often don’t provide meaningful value or insights. The result? Organizations struggle to gain the clarity about their IT estate that’s required to make effective, strategic business decisions. Sprawl—of software and hardware, within categories (e.g., many applications for the same functionality) and of products (multiple applications of the same category or type)—gets in the way of efficiency. Complications of lifecycle management (end of life and support) and vulnerability tracking can expose the organization to security risks. … [Read more...] about Your Business Decisions Are Only As Strong As Your Data

As the APA study indicates, a large number of us simply have less headspace available than we did before the pandemic. It’s a significant shift, and one that prompts profound questions for those leading brands. ASEAN recovery plan: Business as usual?

Fully enforcing the recovery plan would certainly provide impetus to the idea that the wellbeing of the people living in the region is intrinsically linked to an ASEAN that, as an institution, must necessarily be stronger and far more united than it is now. Are the leaders of the region aware that the long-term implications of having the recovery plan realized might foresee a new scenario requiring more integration and consequentially a possible erosion of their nations’ sovereignty? Perhaps the heads of government and state … [Read more...] about ASEAN recovery plan: Business as usual?

Majority of international travel to Phuket is from India
The majority of international visitors to Phuket since the beginning of 2022 came from India, but half of the hotels on the island remain closed as they wait for the high season to begin. Even if the number of arrivals doubled by the end of the year, Phuket’s tourist numbers are still falling well short of pre-Covid levels. Between May and June, there were around 52,000 Indian travellers in Phuket, followed by Singaporeans, just under 20,000 travellers during the same time. With direct flights from Thai Smile Airways, Go First Airlines and Indigo Airlines linking Phuket with major cities like New Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore and Mumbai, the prospect for the Indian market next month still looks promising. The hospitality industry in Phuket is slowly, very slowly, gaining momentum since the beginning of 2022, with the Thai Hotels Association 40% of available hotel rooms booked in May. Most of the visitors are from India, Singapore, Australia and the United Kingdom, according to the … [Read more...] about Majority of international travel to Phuket is from India

- A + A BERLIN/BRUSSELS (June 28): Leaders of the world's most advanced economies have agreed to start a Climate Club in which members agree on joint rules and standards in the fight against global warming with the hope that it will avoid spats over green tariffs. The Group of Seven (G7) nations reached a deal on the issue at a three-day summit in Bavaria, Germany that ended on Tuesday. It is a significant achievement for German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who has made better coordination on climate protection measures a key theme of his G7 presidency. "We note with concern that currently neither global climate ambition nor implementation is sufficient to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement," the final G7 leaders said in a statement. The Climate Club will address that by "accelerating climate action and increasing ambition, with a particular focus on the industry sector". Scholz has argued that the Climate Club would help eliminate a chaotic patchwork of national … [Read more...] about G7 launches Climate Club in attempt to avoid green trade wars
