Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Topline Google launched an artificial intelligence chatbot called Bard on Tuesday, the company’s response to the AI frenzy dominating big tech companies after the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT—backed by Google’s rival Microsoft—caught the attention of millions last year. Key Facts The new chatbot—a software programmed to simulate human conversation—will initially be available to a limited number of users in the U.S. and the U.K., and more users, countries and languages will be included over time, Google said Tuesday, but did not specify exactly how many users would have access to the technology. Users will access Bard through a separate website from the Google search engine, Google said , in an effort to separate the source of much of the company’s revenue from the experimental technology that has been prone to problems at other companies. Key Facts Only offered to select markets in the U.S. and U.K., hopeful users can sign up for the waitlist to gain access to Bard, which claims to help users plan a birthday party, understand complex topics and create a pros and cons list for a tough decision. New York’s Diné Textiles Come Out Of The Closet At Bard Graduate Center
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Spider Woman (Na’ashjéii Asdzáá) brought the gift of weaving to Diné (Navajo) people. Dinétah, the traditional homeland of the Diné, provided the materials. Situated in the Four Corners region of the American Southwest, four mountain peaks define Dinétah’s boundaries: Blanca Peak (Sisnaajinį́), associated with the color white; Mount Taylor (Tsoodził), associated with the color blue; the San Francisco Peaks (Dook’o’oosłííd), associated with the color yellow; and Hesperus Mountain (Dibé Nitsaa), associated with the color black. Spider Woman visited the mountains, taking from each what was required to weave. Blanca Peak provided wood for her husband, Spider Man, to construct a loom. Mount Taylor possessed plants necessary in making dyes. San Francisco Peaks offered design patterns from the thunder gods. At Hesperus Mountain, she learned the prayers connected to the weaving process. What You Need To Know About GPT-4 The Just Released Successor To Generative AI ChatGPT, Plus AI Ethics And AI Law Considerations
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin What is your usual reaction upon the release of a sequel to a major headline-grabbing blockbuster movie? Some people go see the sequel and declare that it is as good if not even better than the original. Others might have extraordinarily high expectations and after viewing the newer film proclaim it as reasonably good though nothing to howl ecstatically about. There are some that will undoubtedly be exceedingly disappointed, no matter what the latest movie includes, and will summarily declare that the first movie was unabashedly heads and tails above the sequel. That same range of reactions and emotions has come to the fore in the release yesterday of GPT-4 by AI maker OpenAI, taking place on Pi Day, namely 3.14 or March 14, 2023. Likely a coincidence of happening on the mathematician’s favorite pie-eating day, the GPT-4 unveiling did garner a lot of press attention and voluminous chatter on social media. I will … [Read more...] about What You Need To Know About GPT-4 The Just Released Successor To Generative AI ChatGPT, Plus AI Ethics And AI Law Considerations

A search engine researcher explains the pros and cons of letting ChatGPT and other chatbots search the web for you
The prominent model of information access before search engines became the norm—librarians and subject or search experts providing relevant information—was interactive, personalized, transparent, and authoritative. Search engines are the primary way most people access information today, but entering a few keywords and getting a list of results ranked by some unknown function is not ideal. A new generation of artificial intelligence-based information access systems, which includes Microsoft’s Bing/ChatGPT, Google/Bard, and Meta/LLaMA, is upending the traditional search engine mode of search input and output. These systems are able to take full sentences and even paragraphs as input and generate personalized natural language responses. At first glance, this might seem like the best of both worlds: personable and custom answers combined with the breadth and depth of knowledge on the internet. But as a researcher who studies the search and recommendation systems , I … [Read more...] about A search engine researcher explains the pros and cons of letting ChatGPT and other chatbots search the web for you
