Cobra Golf’s New Drivers Incorporate Leonardo Da Vinci Invention From Over 500 Years Ago

January 31, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Mike Yagley, who heads up the innovation team at Cobra Golf, can’t help but chuckle when he talks about the new PWR-Bridge weighting technology that’s part of the company’s newest line of drivers. Not only is the suspended weight design fashioned after a Leonardo da Vinci concept from more than 500 years ago, but it’s on the inside of the clubhead. “The marketing guys would love for all the cool stuff to be on the outside,” Yagley said as he held a yet-to-be assembled driver head at the recent PGA Merchandise Show. For Yagley and the innovation team at Cobra, the internal bridge structure they created for the Aerojet line proved to be a great way to suspend mass without having it touch the sole of the clubhead. While well-known as one of the greatest painters of the Italian Renaissance, da Vinci was also a engineer, scientist and architect; one of his most famous inventions of the late 1400’s being the … [Read more...] about Cobra Golf’s New Drivers Incorporate Leonardo Da Vinci Invention From Over 500 Years Ago

What The NWSL Can Learn From The WNBA’s New Collective Bargaining Agreement

February 25, 2020 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Sydney Leroux admits she spent more money on babysitters and nannies for her children than she made last year playing for the Orlando Pride in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). A mother of two, Leroux said it’s hard for women to be a mother and play in the top professional women’s soccer league in the United States. The NWSL Players Association estimates there are seven players with children competing in the nine-team league. “If you’re not on the national team, you’re sitting in the back seat,” Leroux said. “I think we need to make it important that it touches everybody. What we’re doing is only affecting certain people and I think that that’s not good enough because we’re losing out on really good athletes because you can’t survive on an NWSL salary. “People have different jobs, people’s parents are helping them and that’s not OK. This isn’t a hobby, this is our livelihood.” Currently, there is no … [Read more...] about What The NWSL Can Learn From The WNBA’s New Collective Bargaining Agreement

The Path Is Clear For Napoli To Finally Win Serie A After 33 Years

January 31, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin All he needed was three touches, each one better than the last. It was in the 16 th minute of the Derby del Sole between Napoli and Roma that Napoli’s in-form hitman Victor Osimhen sprang into life. The Nigerian had been somewhat quiet up until that point, but the Osimhen of this season doesn’t stay quiet for very long. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia floated a gorgeous cross across the box — from left to right — towards the gangly frame of Osimhen. With not one but two Roma defenders surrounding him, there didn’t seem much possibility of Osimhen being able to even get a shot off, let alone score. Yet his control of Kvaratskhelia’s cross, with his chest, was exceptional. Then came the knee, bringing the ball down his body further and this allowed the most emphatic of finishes one will find this season. Osimhen pulled his leg back and smashed an unstoppable finish into the roof of Rui Patricio’s goal, giving the Portuguese … [Read more...] about The Path Is Clear For Napoli To Finally Win Serie A After 33 Years

How Disney Sailed Off With $1.6 Billion From Its Cruise Line

January 31, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Disney banked a total of $1.6 billion of dividends from its cruise line over its first 25 years in business according to detailed analysis of its financial statements. The strength of Disney's brand makes it a bellwether of the cruise industry but it wasn't even a player just 25 years ago. The Mouse first dipped its toe in the water in the mid-1980s when it signed a partnership which allowed Premier Cruise Lines to sell combined cruise, hotel and theme park packages and offer on-board appearances from Disney characters. In 1993 Premier decided to partner with Warner Bros. instead and although it continued to offer land and sea packages with Disney's parks, it also added Universal Studios as an option. The led Disney to approach Carnival and Royal Caribbean about becoming its exclusive sea partner but the talks sunk without a trace. In 1998 Disney decided to take the plunge and launched its own ship, the Disney Magic. The … [Read more...] about How Disney Sailed Off With $1.6 Billion From Its Cruise Line

Curtain raiser | Sundance 2023: Screen time for India’s fears and frustrations

January 17, 2023 by www.moneycontrol.com

Indians showcase at Sundance Film Festival 2023. (Photos courtesy of Sundance Institute) If India's forthcoming run at Sundance 2023 had a theme, it would probably be the wilderness. Elephants, fish, white ants, and nocturnal beasts mark the stories featuring the country that will make their debut at the Utah-based film festival. Sundance platforms independent dramatic features and documentaries and brings some of the first international film showings of the calendar year. Titles that premiere there contend with the most troubling questions of the present moment. Indian filmmakers have regularly taken their work to the festival, particularly after the Sundance Institute began organising screenwriters and directors’ labs in the region. Such interactions have helped produce films including Margarita with a Straw (2014), Lunchbox (2015), and Fire in the Mountains (2021). Of documentary, episodes, and shorts Sundance Film Festival is biggest film festival to start … [Read more...] about Curtain raiser | Sundance 2023: Screen time for India’s fears and frustrations

New Zealand Captain Ali Riley Remains Optimistic About Growth Of Women’s Soccer

January 31, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin While Ali Riley is certainly grateful for everything soccer has provided her on and off the field, the Angel City FC and New Zealand women’s national team captain is even more excited about what the beautiful game can bring the next generation as interest and support continues to grow from investors, brands, fans and media. But the fight for equality is far from over. “I hope women’s sports moves in a direction—and we are seeing it—where we don’t feel the need to make more money (outside of our salaries),” Riley says. “I would love it if all of this was a choice and a passion. In the future, I would love to make enough money where I could be investing in these companies that do good things because I think a lot of players will probably jump at any opportunity to make extra money. “I’m not going to say I’m lucky because I’ve worked really, really hard to be in this position but I have the privilege of being able to … [Read more...] about New Zealand Captain Ali Riley Remains Optimistic About Growth Of Women’s Soccer

Tech companies tout their inventions as a liberating force of art for all, but purists argue that the artist is still the central cog in the machine. Art historian and AI expert Emily L. Spratt, whose forthcoming book tackles the ethics and regulation of AI art, told AFP that the art world has not yet found a response to the potentially transformative technology. Are we all artists now? Punch a few keywords into an AI art tool -- something like "Brad Pitt in a rowing boat in space in the style of Mondrian" -- and seconds later boldly coloured line drawings will emerge of the Hollywood star, … [Read more...] about Clickbait or creativity?
