Boeing (BA) Deliveries Remain Steady in May
U.S. plane maker Boeing ( BA ) said on Tuesday, June 15, that it delivered 35 jets last month amid ongoing supply chain disruptions stifling production of its flagship 737 MAX jet. Key Takeaways Boeing said that it delivered 35 jets last month, more than double the deliveries it made in May 2021. The plane maker booked 23 gross orders in May compared with 73 in same month last year. Boeing has delivered 72 fewer jets than Airbus this year through the end of May. Increased plane handovers could generate additional cash for Boeing and indicate some of the company's challenges are easing. Plane deliveries in May remained steady on a sequential basis but more than doubled year-over-year (YOY) compared with the 17 Boeing made in May 2021. Meanwhile, the company booked 23 gross orders last month compared with 73 last May. Five Of The Most Flexible Direct Medical Programs
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin High school students interested in applying to medical school might think that their only path to medicine is by attending an undergraduate school, declaring a STEM major and having an extracurricular resume filled with medical-based volunteering and research experiences before applying to medical school. Luckily, this isn't the case. High schoolers committed to a career in medicine can also apply to direct medical (also known as BS/MD, BA/MD, BS/DO and BA/DO) programs. Once a student is admitted into the competitive program, they are guaranteed a seat in the medical school as long as they continue to meet the undergraduate requirements. While some of these programs are rigid, requiring students to complete their courses in a set schedule, select a specific major or attend school over the summer, there are direct medical programs that are more flexible. BS/MD counselor and current Brown PLME student, Nidhi … [Read more...] about Five Of The Most Flexible Direct Medical Programs

Moderna’s Covid Booster Shot Produces Strong Antibodies Against Fast-Spreading Omicron Subvariants
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Topline Moderna’s new Covid-19 booster shot aimed at protecting against the original coronavirus and omicron strain also produces a strong antibody response against two fast-spreading omicron subvariants, according to clinical data released on Wednesday, as the company aims to offer the new shot in August in anticipation of another potential wave of Covid infections caused by the highly contagious omicron strains. Key Facts Preliminary clinical data results from Moderna’s bivalent Covid vaccine—a type of vaccine with two different targets, the original coronavirus strain and the omicron variant—suggest it provides a “potent” antibody response against omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5, the company said Wednesday. ‘Malaysia hits all the marks of being in endemic phase’
GEORGE TOWN: The country is ready to move out from the pandemic stage and into endemicity based on current indicators, says a health expert. Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Advanced Medical and Dental Institute Biomedical Science head Dr Muhammad Amir Yunus said several indicators showed that the country has an option to move into the endemic status, which could help manage Covid-19 better without draining too much health and economic resources. “Among others, we are there with the vaccination coverage status, number of new cases per million population globally, and surveillance on virus (no new significant dangerous variants and severity of illness in general). “People should keep in mind that ‘endemic’ status doesn’t mean that there should be zero daily cases, which is totally wrong as it refers to how manageable the number is, without the emergence of new dangerous virus variants. “Endemicity itself doesn’t mean good or safe. It means that the Covid-19 virus (SARS-CoV-2) is … [Read more...] about ‘Malaysia hits all the marks of being in endemic phase’

Macau keeps casinos open as bars, cinemas shut to tame virus
- A + A (June 23): Macau will keep its casinos open, while shutting other entertainment venues, as the world’s largest gambling hub tries to contain its worst ever Covid-19 outbreak. Bars, nightclubs, cinemas, gyms and hair salons will close from 5 p.m. local time on Thursday, and restaurants will suspend dining-in services, according to a government mandate, which didn’t specify how long the curbs will last. Macau has already shut schools and public venues, and is conducting mass testing to weed out hidden chains of community transmission as the number of infections in this outbreak climbed to 110 from 71 a day earlier. The outbreak is being driven by the omicron sub-variant BA.5, said health officials. Casinos are not affected by the restrictions for now and the city hasn’t shut the venues since an unprecedented 15-day closure in February 2020. Authorities will only close individual casinos if they find a case in gaming spaces, Macau’s Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng … [Read more...] about Macau keeps casinos open as bars, cinemas shut to tame virus
