Image via KhaoSod An 80 year old Thai woman fell into the Nan River in Pichit province, northern Thailand , and floated for 3 kilometres before she was rescued by a good Samaritan yesterday. At 4pm, 61 year old Bancha Simadua, the owner of a paint shop, was fishing in the Nan River near Wat Ratchachang Kwan when he suddenly saw a naked body float past him, which he assumed was a corpse. Bancha immediately called the police to the scene, jumped in his boat and drove out to the “corpse.” When he got closer, he saw the elderly lady’s eyes blink open. Shocked, he realised she was still alive and needed help. He said there was a piece of wood supporting the woman’s back preventing her from drowning. He pulled her up onto his boat and brought her ashore and waited for the authorities to arrive. Officers from Tung Yai Police Station were alerted to the man’s death at around 10pm last night and immediately rushed to investigate the scene along with volunteers from the Pu-in Tung Yai Rescue Team. A member of the love hotel staff showed them to the room where the incident occurred and officers discovered the body of the 70 year old man named Chang on the bed. Chang was naked only for a towel wrapped around his wrist while his face had turned dark. No wounds were spotted on his body. His blue cross-body bag was on a table near the bed. A rescue team attempted to save the child’s life but he died on the way to the hospital. Baan Bua Municipality Rescue Team rushed to a local restaurant in the Baan Bua sub-district of Buriram yesterday at 3pm after a 33 year old mother named Phitsamai sought help for her three year old son Kittinan, or Gun, who was in critical condition after being trapped in a pickup truck. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the young boy unconscious on the back seat of the pickup and immediately rushed him to the hospital.
