How A Broken Juventus FC Saved Serie A

March 21, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin There was a grim inevitability in the way Juventus FC won its ninth consecutive Serie A title in 2020. Having replaced Max Allegri, the coach who’d guided the Bianconeri to five of those crowns, with the eccentric Maurizio Sarri, it had appeared for parts of the season the club might fail. By this stage Juventus had become so used to claiming the Scudetto its hierarchy had decided it didn’t just want to win, it wanted to win better. Sarri had been brought in with that in mind, the crowning achievement on his CV was building a Napoli team who lit up European soccer with exciting attacking play but ultimately earned no titles. The desire to claim hearts as well as trophies was in addition to another lofty goal; to finally triumph in Europe. Allegri had taken Juve to two Champions League finals, failing on both occasions at the final hurdle. However, the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo was meant to solve this … [Read more...] about How A Broken Juventus FC Saved Serie A

It’s the seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion’s first race as a driver since his impressive return in the 65 th Daytona 500 was ruined when he was involved in the massive last-lap crash in overtime that helped determine the outcome of the race. Rather than look back, however, Johnson is using Sunday’s EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix at the 19-turn, 3.4-mile road course that hosts the United States Grand Prix Formula One contest to help prepare for the 75 th 24 Hours of Le Mans. Johnson along with Mike Rockenfeller and former Formula One World Champion Jenson Button will be part of the Garage 56 effort that will take a NASCAR Cup Series stock car to the world’s most famous endurance race on June 10-11, 2023. Nascar Driver Josh Williams Suspended For One Race After Viral Exit From His Car On Track At Atlanta

March 22, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Nascar Xfinity Series driver Josh Williams became a sports sensation on Saturday afternoon in an unexpected way. The underfunded Nascar driver went viral after he parked his car on the start/finish line and walked through the infield grass to the DGM Racing pit stall, led to a wide debate in the Nascar community this week. Williams was suspended by Nascar for the upcoming race due to exiting his car during Saturday’s RAPTOR King of the Tough 250 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He will miss Saturday’s Pit Boss 250 at the Circuit of The Americas. Williams fell victim to an incident during the crash-filled Xfinity Series race. When his small team put bear bond (strong adhesive repair tape) on his car, it fell off because it couldn't stick with the cold weather. The tape fell off on the track to cause another caution flag. Nascar told his team that he was disqualified from competing in the rest of the event, so Williams … [Read more...] about Nascar Driver Josh Williams Suspended For One Race After Viral Exit From His Car On Track At Atlanta

NASCAR’s Kevin Harvick Going Nostalgic, Running No. 29 Car That Started It All

March 16, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Kevin Harvick will go sentimental for this year’s NASCAR All-Star Race in his final season as a fulltime driver in the Cup series. The Stewart-Haas Racing driver will wheel a No. 29 Ford for the 39 th running of NASCAR’s All-Star event, an exhibition race that for the first time will be held at North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina on May 21. Harvick made his NASCAR Cup debut driving a No. 29 Chevy for Richard Childress Racing in 2001. It was a debut, and a car number that wasn’t his choice. In February of that season, the same RCR car was being raced by Dale Earnhardt Sr. and carried the No. 3. Earnhardt tragically lost his life on the final lap of the season opening Daytona 500. The sport was in shock and needed a way to express its grief. As it has always done after tragedy NASCAR raced on, and with the blessing of team owner, and close Earnhardt friend Richard Childress, the No. 3 was rebranded and … [Read more...] about NASCAR’s Kevin Harvick Going Nostalgic, Running No. 29 Car That Started It All

Hendrick Motorsports Presents Its Case To The Court Of (NASCAR) Public Opinion

March 17, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Hendrick Motorsports is taking its case to the court of public opinion. Days after NASCAR handed down its largest team penalty in history, Hendrick executives met with the media to give their side of the story. Wednesday Hendrick’s four teams were each handed stiff penalties stemming from issues NASCAR officials found on the team’s cars prior to last weekends race at Phoenix. During an inspection on Friday, NASCAR found the hood louvers on each of the team’s cars had been modified. They allowed the teams to practice, but then seized the parts for later study. When the penalties were announced, all 4 Hendrick crew chiefs were fined $100,000 and suspended for four races, and each team was also penalized with the loss of 100 points and 10 playoff points. The $400,000 fine is the largest for a team in NASCAR’s history. FAA Urges Airlines To Review Safety Procedures After String Of ‘Concerning’ Near-Misses

March 22, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Topline The Federal Aviation Administration issued a safety alert Wednesday urging airlines to evaluate their safety procedures and communications, after a series of potentially devastating near-misses at multiple airports this winter caused FAA officials to reassess the air travel system. Key Facts There have been six runway incidents since the start of the year, including close calls involving a departing plane at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York and another at Austin-Bergstrom Airport involving a plane that was landing (none of the incidents resulted in fatalities). The recent spate of close calls doesn’t reflect an increase in the number of incidents, but the FAA warned the “potential severity of these events is concerning.” The FAA urged airline directors and pilots to use “all available internal communication systems and have all flight crews familiarize themselves with the “risks associated with … [Read more...] about FAA Urges Airlines To Review Safety Procedures After String Of ‘Concerning’ Near-Misses

Claudia Alarcón: So, you’re starting the 12th season of your James Beard awarded PBS series, Pati's Mexican Table. Congratulations! Pati Jinich: Can you believe it? It has been such a beautiful experience because one misses Mexico so much. The nostalgia and romanticism that we Mexicans have for the Mexico we left behind is so strong, isn't it? And Pati's Mexican Table has not just allowed me to build a bridge between Mexico and the United States. I used to think that the program was to bring Mexico to the United States, but as the years went by I realized that it was a bridge to also make Mexico known to Mexicans, because now … [Read more...] about Pati Jinich On Pairing Tequila, Mexican Identity, And Her Award-Winning TV Shows

Mark Cuban, SBA And Google On How AI Startups Can Get $2 Million In Funding Amid The Bank Crisis

March 23, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin During a tense opening weekend at SXSW, following the sudden collapse of Silicon Valley Bank which banked nearly half of US venture-backed startups , billionaire investor Mark Cuban sat down with me to discuss options for entrepreneurs trying to secure funds in the midst of unprecedented economic chaos. “I would encourage people to do their homework,” he said. “This is a learning experience. It’s been a learning experience for me.” Cuban, whose CostPlusDrugs.com had millions tied up at SVB, went on to say that the Federal Reserve, Treasury and FDIC making “all depositors whole” would go a long way to calm things down since a large percentage of the accounts were for operating expenses and too large to be insured. FDIC insurance only covers up to $250,000, a limit that was set in 2010 , more than a decade ago. “If you're a company that does $2 million a year in sales, has four employees, and you're in Dubuque, … [Read more...] about Mark Cuban, SBA And Google On How AI Startups Can Get $2 Million In Funding Amid The Bank Crisis
