Data Analytics Now A Powerful Tool For Boosting Diversity

February 4, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin We still have a long to go in achieving diversity in management ranks, but technology may help open up more opportunities. The recent Bloomberg Gender Equality Index finds that out of 484 large companies examined, only 41 have a woman CEO, and 50 have a woman chairperson. Overall, 32% of boards are occupied by women. “Over the last few years, we have seen an increase in diversity in management positions, however there is still work to be done,” says Sabah Cambrelen , workforce transformation partner with PwC . “For example, while we have seen an increase of women in management roles, women of color still remain significantly underrepresented.” Of the 26% of women in the C-suite, just five percent of those leaders are women of color, PwC data shows. Now, we may have tools to help boost efforts to achieve more gender equality — and multi-racial equality — in management ranks. several technologies and approaches show … [Read more...] about Data Analytics Now A Powerful Tool For Boosting Diversity

OpenAI, the company behind the headline-grabbing artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT, has an automated content moderation system designed to flag hateful speech, but the software treats speech differently depending on which demographic groups are insulted, according to a study conducted by research scientist David Rozado. The content moderation system used in ChatGPT and other OpenAI products is designed to detect and block hate, threats, self-harm and sexual comments about minors, according to Rozado. The researcher fed various prompts to ChatGPT involving negative adjectives ascribed to various demographic groups based on race, gender, religion and various other markers and found that the software favors some demographic groups over others. Zoho CEO Sridhar Vembu Zoho Corporation’s co-founder and CEO Sridhar Vembu said that the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) company is seeing a slowdown in sales at present due to macro-economic challenges, despite reporting a 43 percent YoY growth in net profit for FY22 last week. Not just Zoho Corp but publicly listed IT services behemoths like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Wipro, HCLTech and others are also expecting longer timelines to close deals as clients are approaching tech spending cautiously amidst inflation, impending recession in the US and ongoing war in Europe. Vembu said, “We'll see a growth slowdown in sales, so the growth is lower now than a year ago.
