LONDON — Tens of thousands of protesters are expected to flood the streets of London Tuesday in protest at President Donald Trump's state visit to the United Kingdom. It is the largest of more than two dozen anti-Trump protests planned around the U.K. this week. "Let's show him what we think of his divisive, hateful policies," said the Stop Trump Coalition, which is organizing the event. "Trump and his politics aren't welcome in the U.K." Flying above the demonstrators will be the Trump baby blimp, a 20ft inflatable depicting the president as a bawling infant in a diaper. This first took to the skies during the president's working visit to the U.K. in 2018, which drew upward of 250,000 protesters. As they did then, Brits are traveling from across the country today. Some 18 buses are listed on the official campaign website, ready to bring in demonstrators from as far away as Newcastle, in the north-east of England, and Swansea, west Wales. They will start in Trafalgar Square at 11 … [Read more...] about Anti-Trump protesters set to flood London streets

Late last month, more than 100 major Republican donors gathered at the Trump International Hotel for a presentation from the president’s campaign manager Brad Parscale and other top political hands on their plans to keep the White House in 2020 after a brutal midterm election. But several of the GOP contributors left the two-day retreat in Washington dissatisfied, dogged by essentially the same concern: The president doesn’t really have a strategy to win reelection. Story Continued Below They are chiefly worried about how he intends to prevail again in the Rust Belt states that voted for Trump in 2016, but where Democrats performed strongly in last year's midterms. But there are also concerns about whether the president's fundraising apparatus is up to the task, and whether Trump will trample on any strategy or message the campaign does develop, as he frequently does. This account is based on interviews with nearly a dozen people connected to Trump’s reelection, … [Read more...] about GOP donors: Trump campaign lacks a strategy to win in 2020
A former national field director for President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign registered as a foreign agent of Qatar late last year, the latest figure in Trump’s orbit to profit from a scramble by Gulf states to win favor in Washington. Qatar’s hiring of the operative, Stuart Jolly, adds to the list of allies of former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski that have forged ties to Qatar, a gas-rich nation currently under a blockade that Saudi Arabia and others imposed over allegations that the country was funding terrorism and too cozy with Iran, among other grievances. The dispute has set off an intense, and lucrative, struggle for influence in Washington. Both sides have dished out millions of dollars to lobbyists and public relations firms as they compete for favorable treatment from the Trump administration and Congress.Story Continued Below Qatar’s government has already put Lewandowski’s former lobbying firm, Avenue Strategies, on a $500,000 … [Read more...] about Qatar hired ex-Trump campaign staffer as D.C. lobbyist
Anti-Trump protesters in Falmouth Monday say they were targeted because of their political views when they were splashed with slush and snow by a passing snowplow driver, who is now facing charges from police. John C. Pimental, 31, of Mashpee, was allegedly behind the wheel of his snowplow when an icy flurry washed over demonstrators on the Falmouth Village Green that afternoon, The Cape Cod Times reports. Police charged Pimental, who will be summonsed to court, with assault and disorderly conduct, according to the newspaper. Demonstrators who were there told Boston.com about 55 people turned out to voice opposition against President Donald Trump’s policies. The group was particularly fired up about Trump’s decision last week to declare a national emergency to secure funding for his proposed wall at the U.S.-Mexico border. Joe Andreassi, who attended with his wife, Kim, said he watched the truck’s plow drop as it sped up toward the triangular park and spray … [Read more...] about Anti-Trump protesters held a rally in Falmouth. 2020 elections The sum represents a floor, not a ceiling, on the billionaire’s potential spending to defeat the president in 2020. Billionaire philanthropist Michael Bloomberg is preparing to spend at least $500 million from his own pocket to deny President Donald Trump a second term, according to Democratic operatives briefed on his plans. Bloomberg has not yet announced whether he will run in the Democratic primary. If he runs, he will use that half-billion-dollar stake — roughly $175 million more than the Trump campaign spent over the course of the entire 2016 election cycle — to fuel his campaign through the 2020 primary season, with the expectation that the sum represents a floor, not a ceiling, on his potential spending. Story Continued Below If Bloomberg declines to seek the presidency, his intention is to run an unprecedented data-heavy campaign designed to operate as a shadow political party for the eventual Democratic nominee. “That’ll get us … [Read more...] about Michael Bloomberg’s $500 million anti-Trump moonshot
