Although no synopsis appears to be available and the just-released trailer is a Scrabble letter bag of incomprehensibility, Animal World appears to be about gangs of underground gangs battling reptilian creatures in subways. One of those fighters transforms into a clown to do his exterminating. The amazing thing is how straight this trailer plays the utterly bonkers premise (which is adapted from the Japanese manga Ultimate Survivor Kaiji). But Christopher Nolan only became Christopher Nolan after a studio (Summit Films, a subsidiary of Lionsgate) green-lit his second movie, Memento. Would the algorithm have concluded that the backwards memory noir directed by some nobody starring no big-name actors was worth doing? If only Fast Company had an in-house AI so we could know for sure. … [Read more...] about Warner Bros. signs with AI company to help choose which movies to reboot (yes, really)
Even before parallel reality lands in Detroit, it will make an early appearance this week at CES in Las Vegas. Delta’s booth features a preview of the airport-info application along with other exhibits about the technology. Delta CEO Ed Bastian and Misapplied’s Ng are showing off parallel reality as part of Delta’s keynote at the gadget exhibition on Tuesday morning. Also part of Delta’s CES showing: improvements to its Fly Delta app (such as the built-in ability to summon a Lyft to take you to the airport), a partnership to test exoskeletons for Delta employees whose jobs involve heavy lifting, and the use of machine learning to help minimize schedule disruptions during bad weather. … [Read more...] about Delta’s ‘parallel reality’ display sounds like sci-fi, but it’s coming soon
