Ron Desantis (R), will make Florida the 26th state with such laws. Key Facts Florida’s Senate voted 27-13 Thursday to pass the bill , which would do away with Florida’s requirement under state law to obtain a concealed weapons permit and undergo background checks and firearms training in order to carry a concealed gun. Florida’s house had passed the bill by a vote of 76-32 last week. If signed into law, gun owners would only need to hold a valid ID to carry a concealed weapon, with a $25 fine for failing to do so. But in doing so, the plan would likely deliver extra benefits to some very well-off families. It could also increase complexity – pushing against a key argument for operating benefit programs through the tax system . First, the good stuff. The proposal would extend full refundability permanently, allowing even very low-income families to receive the full benefit of the CTC. Full refundability is critical to reducing child poverty , especially among Black and Hispanic children. Under current law, about 19 million children in low-income families fail to get the maximum credit because their parents don’t earn enough money. Staff members at one home introduced the family to Tammi Palasini. Palasini, who would later be sentenced to 20 years behind bars for various crimes, including fraud, convinced the Toland family to give her control of $340,000 of their funds. Aid and Assistance Scam In what is known as an "aid and assistance scam," Palasini falsely promised the Toland family that she would help diversify their father's assets to get beneath the threshold to qualify for VA benefits and earn a return on their investment. It wasn't until after Toland's death three years later that the family learned Palasini was a scam artist who had victimized them and their father. The Bangkok Post reports that, in a bid to become self-reliant in vaccine manufacture, the government has allocated a budget of 1 billion baht to developers. The mRNA-based ChulaCov19 vaccine is being developed at Chulalongkorn University, under the leadership of Kiat Ruxrungtham. He says the team is now concerned that by the time the development process is complete, at least 70% of the population will already be fully vaccinated.
