The news is agog over this specific AI app and the seemingly astonishing capabilities pertaining to this type of AI. As I’ll be covering in a moment, some believe strongly that we need to establish a list of what kinds of mistakes or errors the AI app can produce when it generates an essay for you. Others suggest that though the notion of such a list is admirable, it is an exercise in futility and will bear very little fruit. Generative AI ChatGPT Is Going To Be Everywhere Once The API Portal Gets Soon Opened, Stupefying AI Ethics And AI Law
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Release the Kraken! You are undoubtedly familiar with that famous catchphrase as especially uttered by actor Liam Neeson in The Clash of the Titans when he commands that the legendary sea monster be released, aiming to wreak immense havoc and outsized destruction. The line has been endlessly repeated and spawned all manner of memes. Despite the various parodies, most people still at least viscerally sense that the remark foretells something of a shadowy and dangerous emergence is about to be unleashed. Perhaps the same sentiment can be applied these days to Artificial Intelligence (AI). Allow me to elaborate. A recent announcement indicated that a now resoundingly famous AI app called ChatGPT made by the organization OpenAI is soon going to be made available for access by other programs. This is big news. I say this even though little of the regular media has picked up on the pronouncement. Other than fleeting … [Read more...] about Generative AI ChatGPT Is Going To Be Everywhere Once The API Portal Gets Soon Opened, Stupefying AI Ethics And AI Law

Amazon Wants To Help Community Colleges, HBCUs Teach AI
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Amazon has launched an “educator enablement” program to help instructors at community colleges, HBCUs, and other minority-serving institutions learn and teach AI. A recent report from the Burning Glass Institute, Wiley, and the Business-Higher Education Forum is the latest study to affirm the value of the AI skillset in the job market. Yet, quality AI education is still out of reach for many students who don’t attend selective research universities including many Black and Latino/a students. Additionally, the colleges that do enroll large proportions of these students–HBCUs and community colleges–receive two to five times less public and private funding compared to the most selective public and private research universities where white and Asian students are concentrated. While employers are increasingly dropping degree requirements for entry-level roles and exploring skills-based hiring, the reality is that … [Read more...] about Amazon Wants To Help Community Colleges, HBCUs Teach AI
Spot the errors in these seemingly real AI-generated photos from a ‘house party’
One of the Midjourney photos featuring three "women" at a house party. (Image: mileszim/Twitter) A recent breakthrough in Artificial Intelligence has raised questions about the authenticity of digital content. An AI-software, known as Midjourney, is capable of creating highly realistic images of people and has since produced eerily real content of the same - unless you take a closer look. A Twitter user, known only as Miles on the social media giant, shared seemingly real-like AI-generated photographs of "people" at a house party. He shared eight photos that quickly went viral with over 30 million views. However, upon closer inspection, small details such as the lack of natural facial expressions in some photos, too many teeth, and the repetition of certain elements in the background give it away that these were not real people. “Midjourney is getting crazy powerful—none of these are real photos, and none of the people in them exist,” Miles wrote and shared eight photos – 4 … [Read more...] about Spot the errors in these seemingly real AI-generated photos from a ‘house party’
Explainable AI: The Importance Of Adding Interpretability Into Machine Learning
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Dr. Adi Hod . Cofounder & CEO at Velotix. Driven by a passion for data and cybernetic AI. Entrepreneur, professor, leader & innovator. AI is fast becoming embedded in industries, economies and lives, making decisions, recommendations and predictions. These trends mean it’s business-critical to understand how AI-enabled systems arrive at specific outputs. It’s not enough for an AI algorithm to generate the right result—knowing “the reason why” is now a business fundamental. The process has to be transparent, trustworthy and compliant—far removed from the opaque “black-box” concept that has characterized some AI advances in recent times. At the same time, these advances should not be stifled. AI’s velocity underscores organizational competitive advantage in multiple use cases. From an AI system providing personalized real-time medical information to financial traders using AI algorithms to make deals … [Read more...] about Explainable AI: The Importance Of Adding Interpretability Into Machine Learning
Generative AI, Like ChatGPT, Won’t Destroy Creativity – It’ll Save It.
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Generative AI, such as DALL·E 2 or ChatGPT, has the marketing industry fretting about the human creator’s role in the future of creativity. Earlier this week, Mint Mobile and agency Maximum Effort posted a video ad starring owner/actor Ryan Reynolds . No big deal, right? Except it was written entirely by ChatGPT . And Reynolds characterizes the AI-authored commercial as “mildly terrifying,” referring to the software’s accuracy and ability to mimic his acerbic tone of voice. With those two words, Reynolds captures the creative industry’s simultaneous fascination and fear about the potential, pitfalls, and opportunities of AI-driven creativity. Despite generative AI’s utility, the creator community is more uneasy than excited with the notion of powerful tech making their skills and expertise redundant. One holding company executive describes the company’s ambitions for AI and offshoring as both a talent and a profitability … [Read more...] about Generative AI, Like ChatGPT, Won’t Destroy Creativity – It’ll Save It.

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Here’s an edited excerpt from this week’s CIO Newsletter. To get it to your inbox, sign up here . Close your eyes to let your mind drift towards Landwasser Valley in the Swiss Alps, up 5,120 feet to the resort town of Davos, where around 2,500 important people in cruelty-free boots will gather next week at the World Economic Forum to talk about the future of the world. Specifically, they’re focused on the ‘polycrisis’ laid out in WEF’s Global Risks Report . That’s the tangled web of challenges wherein war begets an energy crisis that exacerbates food shortages made worse by drought, for example, and efforts to resolve a challenge like energy prices can make it harder to solve another like, say, climate change. And solving a polycrisis requires a polyglot gathering of polymaths, politicians ( no relation ) and an eclectic mix of other stakeholders. While that’s hardly a mind-blowing concept for systems … [Read more...] about DeSantis May Mock The Cool Kids At Davos But Leaders Are Feeling Alright
