T he Juul Era ended on Wednesday when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration banned the e-cigarette brand —once America’s favorite nicotine vape, with a 70% market share—from selling its products in America. Founded by entrepreneurs James Monsees and Adam Bowen , who met while studying at Stanford, Juul was blamed for igniting a rise in teen vaping through its youthful marketing campaigns and fruity flavors . (The company eventually pulled those flavors from the market.) Despite wide concerns about the underage use of vapes, the FDA decision hinged on another aspect of the product. The agency noted that Juul provided insufficient and “conflicting” data on potentially harmful chemicals that leak from its nicotine liquid pods. Court rules incumbent board still in charge pending Aug 3 hearing, says Caely - A + A KUALA LUMPUR (June 22): Caely Holdings Bhd said the Kuala Lumpur High Court has ruled on Tuesday (June 21) that the current composition of the company’s board of directors shall be maintained as that prior to the extraordinary general meeting (EGM) convened on June 15. In a statement, Caely said the court has directed that the status quo shall remain until the hearing scheduled on Aug 3, following a new lawsuit filed by plaintiffs Leong Seng Wui, Kok Kwang Lim and Valhalla Capital Sdn Bhd who had sought that the EGM to remove eight directors from the company’s existing board be declared valid. (CNN) Young adults who experience discrimination about their bodies, race, age or sex have a greater risk of dealing with mental health problems than those who do not, a new study has found. Encountering discrimination -- especially racism -- has long been associated with negative effects on overall well-being, such as higher levels of stress, poor cognitive function, anxiety, depression and substance use, previous studies have found. Those who faced discrimination frequently -- at least a few times per month -- were around 25% more likely to be diagnosed with a mental disorder and twice as likely to develop severe psychological distress than people who didn't experience discrimination or did less often, according to a study published Monday in the journal Pediatrics.
