The conglomerate—which also has interests in airports, edible oils, ports, renewable energy and toll roads—said in a regulatory filing on Sunday that its unit Kutch Copper has raised 60.7 billion rupees ($775 million) in loans from a syndicate of banks led by the State Bank of India. India wants closer defence cooperation with Malaysia
NEW DELHI: India is looking for enhanced military cooperation with Malaysia, the Indian Ministry of Defence said. Malaysian Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein and Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a virtual conference on Monday (June 27). Hishammuddin in a tweet remarked that he discussed military-to-military cooperation and defence industry collaboration with his Indian counterpart. It was decided that the Malaysia-India Defence Cooperation Meeting (Midcom) scheduled next month would be the platform for a deeper engagement in defence, the Indian ministry said in a statement. Singh suggested a visit of senior officers from Malaysia to explore Indian defence facilities and products and invited Hishammuddin for a visit "at an early convenient date to discuss closer and strategic defence ties," the ministry said. Representative Image Santoor, the sandalwood soap of Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting (WCCL), has become a Rs 2,300 crore plus brand in FY22, its CEO Vineet Agrawal said. The company, which operates in FMCG and lighting products segment, has reported a revenue of Rs 8,634 crore for the financial year ended on March 31, 2022. Though the company is concerned about the inflationary pressure but expects business to improve in FY23 as palm oil prices are softening and the price of crude oil going down. Moreover, demand would be helped by a good monsoon and generation of more employment, he said. While talking about domestic business, Agrawal said: "In India, Santoor continues to do well. Sri Lanka is suffering its worst economic crisis, with foreign exchange reserves at a record low and the island of 22 million struggling to pay for essential imports of food, medicine and, most critically, fuel. Industries like garments, a big dollar earner in the Indian Ocean nation, are left with fuel for only about a week to 10 days. Current stocks of the country will exhaust in just under a week based on regular demand, Reuters calculations show.
