The US Restaurant Industry Has Bounded Back from Covid At Every Level From Fast Food To Fine Dining

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The doomsayers who predicted the literal demise of the U.S. restaurant industry after Covid—especially at the fine dining level—proved myopic in the extreme. A new study called the “Agency Forward Restaurant Survey” compiled by Nationwide Insurance, which both insures and advises restaurants on coping with inflation to supply chain issues shows that every segment of the industry has not just survived but in many cases is thriving well past pre-pandemic levels of business. To explain the findings I spoke with Peter McMurtrie, President of Commercial Lines at Nationwide: You say reservations have returned to pre-pandemic levels. Does this apply as much to fast food and chain restaurants (which are mainly walk-in) as with higher end and fine dining? While this research study only focused on fine dining, fast casual and family-style restaurants, recent research as well as our interactions with customers have shown fast food … [Read more...] about The US Restaurant Industry Has Bounded Back from Covid At Every Level From Fast Food To Fine Dining

Teriyaki Madness: Building A Japanese Restaurant Powerhouse Through Franchising

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Experts attribute that the fascination with Japanese food in the U.S. started in New York City back in 1964 when wrestler turned restaurateur Hiroake “Rocky” Aoki launched Benihana. Its hibachi steak was prepared right in front of guests on a grill at the table and created quite the stir. In fact, Benihana is still going strong with about 75 eateries in about 25 states. Since then, a slew of Japanese restaurant chains such as Jinya Ramen Bar and Kura Sushi, regaled for its serving sushi on its revolving conveyor belt, have flourished in the U.S. But the Japanese restaurant chain that has been most adept at expanding has been Teriyaki Madness, based in Denver, Co. It has grown due to the power of franchising since 129 of its 130 restaurants are franchised. For example, in 2022 it expanded by 29 locations; every one of which was franchised. Of those 130 locations, 126 of them are based in the U.S., spanning 26 states. … [Read more...] about Teriyaki Madness: Building A Japanese Restaurant Powerhouse Through Franchising

Improve Your Short Game With The Best Putters Of The Year

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin It’s about time us golfers gave more thought to the best putters that are sure to shake up what might otherwise be a rusty short game. Many of us (perhaps you included) worry too much about having the right driver or iron, but even more of us neglect the importance of a proper putting instrument. Legendary players from Arnold Palmer to Ben Hogan insisted that amateur golfers can drastically improve their scores from 50 yards into the green. Indeed, for most golfers, the majority of your score comes from what happens on and around that green. Having the best putter to help you navigate the speeds and breaks of the green can make or break your round. As the saying goes, “Drive for show, putt for dough.” Whether you like it or not, if you want to get the ball in the hole, you will be spending most of your time on and around the green. It’s important to have a putter that not only looks great, but feels great too. Of course, … [Read more...] about Improve Your Short Game With The Best Putters Of The Year

Disney Scraps Metaverse Division As Virtual Worlds Become Yesterday’s Tech Fad: Report

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Disney has eliminated its entire metaverse division of roughly 50 people, according to a new report from the Wall Street Journal . And while most people are still confused about what the “metaverse” is even supposed to be, Disney has reportedly dropped plans to explore it, as the company begins layoffs of roughly 7,000 people across the entire company. Disney’s metaverse team was led by Mike White, who will remain at the company, according to the Wall Street Journal . Disney did not immediately respond to a request for comment late Monday. Disney’s metaverse division, which former CEO Bob Chapek dubbed “next generation storytelling,” was created in February 2022 when media companies were convinced Facebook must be on to something. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a bold new plan to focus on the metaverse in October 2021, even changing his company’s name to Meta to emphasize his commitment to that vision. … [Read more...] about Disney Scraps Metaverse Division As Virtual Worlds Become Yesterday’s Tech Fad: Report
