General manager Rick Hahn likes the balance the Chicago White Sox have from an offensive standpoint. And he believes the Sox have improved defensively and that they’ll be a “headier” ballclub. He sees having second baseman Elvis Andrus in the clubhouse as beneficial. And while he knows all too well about the injury factor, Hahn likes the flexibility the roster provides, with depth options, if a setback occurs. “Overall, I like that this group believes what we are capable of accomplishing and wants to prove to the rest of the baseball world that we’re capable of being the team we should be,” Hahn said. Hahn discussed the upcoming season with the Tribune on Saturday at Camelback Ranch. The conversation took place as the Sox were still finalizing their roster . Hahn recalled a recent conversation in regards to the optimism every major-league club feels this time of year. “This year seems different to me,” he said. “This year seems different just from the level of … [Read more...] about ‘We know we have something to prove.’ Chicago White Sox GM Rick Hahn on how he sees the 2023 season after an offseason of change.

The Dallas Mavericks Need To Take Control Of Their Own Future
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The Dallas Mavericks have just lost two straight games to the Charlotte Hornets, one of the league's worst teams, which acts as a symptom of what has been an underwhelming season for the Texas-based organization. What's even worse than their diminishing playoffs odds is the fact that the Mavericks won't have much control in the offseason about.. well, anything, really. Kyrie Irving and Christian Wood - the team's second and third-best players - are both unrestricted free agents, who have the right to leave outright. Tim Hardaway Jr and Davis Bertans, two players with inconsistent production on fairly large deals, remain on the books and won't necessarily be easy to move off of. And the middle of it all is Luka Dončić, the Slovenian superstar who is unquestionably a Top 5 talent, and a franchise-carrying player. With three years left on his contract after the conclusion of this season, Dončić looks increasingly trapped … [Read more...] about The Dallas Mavericks Need To Take Control Of Their Own Future

When it comes to Anthony Volpe finding out he will be on the opening day roster his presence seems to be taking place with more hype than usual. Perhaps it is because ever since the Yankees announced Volpe was headed to the major league portion of spring training, the debate raged about whether he should head north for the regular season opener Thursday against the San Francisco. As the productive at-bats increased with more frequency, it was harder to ignore the results from the shortstop. And by late Sunday afternoon, the Yankees confirmed they saw enough good things out of their 2019 first-round pick to announce he was making the team. “My heart was beating pretty hard,” Volpe told reporters. “Incredible. I'm just so excited. It's hard for me to even put into words." Teriyaki Madness: Building A Japanese Restaurant Powerhouse Through Franchising
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Experts attribute that the fascination with Japanese food in the U.S. started in New York City back in 1964 when wrestler turned restaurateur Hiroake “Rocky” Aoki launched Benihana. Its hibachi steak was prepared right in front of guests on a grill at the table and created quite the stir. In fact, Benihana is still going strong with about 75 eateries in about 25 states. Since then, a slew of Japanese restaurant chains such as Jinya Ramen Bar and Kura Sushi, regaled for its serving sushi on its revolving conveyor belt, have flourished in the U.S. But the Japanese restaurant chain that has been most adept at expanding has been Teriyaki Madness, based in Denver, Co. It has grown due to the power of franchising since 129 of its 130 restaurants are franchised. For example, in 2022 it expanded by 29 locations; every one of which was franchised. Of those 130 locations, 126 of them are based in the U.S., spanning 26 states. … [Read more...] about Teriyaki Madness: Building A Japanese Restaurant Powerhouse Through Franchising
