The Comet Is Now Close But The Moon Is Bright: Why To Use Binoculars And Forget About Dark Skies
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Comets visible to the average stargazer don’t come along too often, which alone makes it worth looking up this week to see the “green comet” C/2022 E3 (ZTF) glide by planet Earth. However, it will almost certainly not be visible to the naked eye—as once hoped— which makes some of the hype surrounding this comet seem unjustified . The photo above? It’s a layered composite image using long exposures. To the unaided—or even the aided—human eye the comet will look nothing like what you see in images on social media. Should you go on a special trip to the countryside in search of dark rural skies? No, you probably should not both. Waxing towards a full Moon on Saturday, our natural satellite in space is already bleaching the night skies. When the Moon is this bright it’s as bad as artifical light pollution for stargazing and comet-hunting. The night sky even many miles from artificial lights will still be … [Read more...] about The Comet Is Now Close But The Moon Is Bright: Why To Use Binoculars And Forget About Dark Skies
‘Overwatch 2’ Is Closing Out Season 2 With A Week-Long Double Match XP Event
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin There’s only a week left of Overwatch 2 Season 2, which means there’s not a lot more time to unlock all the Battle Pass rewards if you haven't already done so. Blizzard is giving you a bit of a helping hand by offering double Match XP until February 6. If you’re on the premium track of the Battle Pass, I’d wager you want to get to level 80 to make sure you secure that rad Zeus Mythic skin for Junker Queen. I like it a lot and have unlocked it on both my accounts, so now I’m trying to get at least a few of the Prestige titles by leveling up some more. Bear in mind that the double XP doesn’t apply to challenges, only the XP you get by playing in and winning matches. Still, the bonus should give you a bit of a boost and help you crank through Battle Pass tiers more quickly. Up 40% Over The Past Month, Paramount Stock Unlikely To Rally Further In The Near Term
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Paramount Global stock (NASDAQ NDAQ : PARA) has rallied by close to 40% over the past month, considerably outperforming the S&P 500. Now to be fair, Paramount PARA hasn’t seen too many positive developments of late. The stock has seen a couple of downgrades by notable brokerages and its holiday quarter results, which are due in mid-February, are also likely to be tough amid weakness in the advertising market, and also due to heavy investments in the streaming space. That said, investors are likely seeing more value in the stock, considering that it is down by over 30% over the last 12 months, trading at just about 12x estimated 2022 earnings. Moreover, the streaming business is actually making pretty good progress, with direct-to-consumer revenue expanding 38% year-over-year in the most recently reported quarter. However, now that Paramount stock has seen a rise of about 40% over the past month, will it continue … [Read more...] about Up 40% Over The Past Month, Paramount Stock Unlikely To Rally Further In The Near Term
Broncos, at a coaching crossroads, stick with Trevor Siemian in blowout win over Raiders
Championships change everything. When the Broncos won Super Bowl 50 in February 2016, that gave Peyton Manning a window to walk away, his legacy secure. That catapulted Von Miller to a $114.5 million contract . That made Broncos general manager John Elway the envy of MVPs after their playing days are over. The title also took away one more piece of motivation for Broncos coach Gary Kubiak to continue grinding away at an all-consuming job. Winning a Super Bowl makes you a champion. A second title is gravy. Kubiak told his players Sunday he will resign. An official announcement is expected Monday. But during a season-ending 24-6 victory Sunday over the playoff-bound Oakland Raiders, Kubiak punted on a looming quarterback battle, setting aside the future to win one final game in a lost season, one last victory in what is probably the coach’s final game with the Broncos. “It’s going to be a heck of a battle between those kids next year,” Kubiak said. Siemian went … [Read more...] about Broncos, at a coaching crossroads, stick with Trevor Siemian in blowout win over Raiders

Partie De Bateau By Gustave Caillebotte Donated To Musée D’Orsay Worth €43 Million
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Gustave Caillebotte was more than an artist. Born to wealthy judge-turned-businessman Martial Caillebotte, he used his family inheritance to amass an incredible collection of 38 paintings from artists that came to be the foundation for the seminal Musée d’Orsay in Paris, opened in a converted train station in 1986. The Musée d’Orsay’s distinctive architecture and breathtaking clock provide a home to the Impressionistic artists who have come to form the national identity of France. Caillebotte donated his collection to the French state upon his death in 1894, by which time he had acquired works by Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Berthe Morisot, Camille Pissarro and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Fortune reported he supported these many of artists financially during his lifetime, with Christie’s noting he also financed their exhibitions in the 1870s. Giannis Antetokounmpo Has Been Dominant This Season But Still Has Plans To Improve
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin For all the Milwaukee Bucks have had to deal with this season in terms of injuries and availability, one thing they’ve been able to count upon on an almost-nightly basis is Giannis Antetokounmpo. No, the two-time Most Valuable Player and burgeoning superstar hasn’t played every minute of every game for Milwaukee this season — he’s missed 10 of the Bucks’ 51 games due to knee soreness, rest and load management — but when he is in the lineup, the Bucks know exactly what they’re going to get. Yet, at the same time, they also know there’s a pretty good chance that they’ll see something they’ve never seen before. Such is life when one of the greatest players in the history of the league is on your roster: remarkable performances that look easy combined with mind-boggling feats that seem like they’re straight out of a video game. Take, for example, Antetokounmpo’s aforementioned 50 points against the Wizards which … [Read more...] about Giannis Antetokounmpo Has Been Dominant This Season But Still Has Plans To Improve
