Pentagon reports increase in UFO numbers over last 20 years

May 18, 2022 by thethaiger.com

US officials say the number of unidentified flying objects reported in the last 20 years has increased, according to an AFP report. Scott Bray, a director of Naval intelligence, says there has been an increase in the numbers of unidentified objects in certain areas. “Since the early 2000s, we have seen an increasing number of unauthorised and/or unidentified aircraft or objects in military-controlled training areas and training ranges and other designated airspace.” Bray says the US military’s efforts to remove the stigma from reporting UFOs could well be behind the increase. It can also be attributed to advances in technology. However, Bray insists the Pentagon has not found anything to suggest that the objects are not from this planet. Hedging his bets however, he hasn’t ruled out that possibility. “We’ve made no assumptions about what this is or isn’t.” According to the AFP report, in June of last year, a report released by US intelligence officials claimed there was no … [Read more...] about Pentagon reports increase in UFO numbers over last 20 years

A lone bear, black magic and a $235 billion stock market crash

May 16, 2022 by www.moneycontrol.com

What does it take to trigger a crash in the stock market? A once-in-a-century pandemic? The biggest war in Europe in 70 years? The US Federal Reserve instantaneously cutting off the supply of the opium of record liquidity and low interest rates? Multi-year high inflation? How about black magic? The Oxford Dictionary defines black magic as a type of magic that is believed to use the power of the devil in order to do evil. In a world where boring financial data, profit and loss statements, and complex macroeconomic events sway the everyday movement of stock prices and stock indices, one Rajkot-based stockbroker claimed last week that he spent more than Rs 8 crore to engineer a multi-day crash in the stock market with the help of esoteric black magic. Close “We are responsible to a great extent for today’s fall and the fall of the past few days in the market. You won’t believe it, but we have spent over Rs 8.5 crore today in kala jadu (black magic) to create … [Read more...] about A lone bear, black magic and a $235 billion stock market crash

Why is Coinbase crashing? COIN stock hits all-time low as crypto trading sinks

May 11, 2022 by www.fastcompany.com

Cryptocurrencies have taken a beating this year. As Gizmodo reports , many have lost up to half their value within the last six months alone. But the beating that crypto is taking in 2022 is affecting more than just the digital coins themselves: In the wake of Coinbase’s most recent quarterly earnings, we now know that some crypto trading platforms are also underperforming. advertisement Yesterday after the bell, Coinbase Global (Nasdaq: COIN) announced its Q1 2022 earnings. The results were not good and sent COIN stock plummeting. As of the time of this writing, COIN is down over 14.5% to $62.33 in pre-market trading. That’s an all-time low for Coinbase, which peaked at just over $319 last October. The company went public in a much-hyped direct listing a little over a year ago, the first major crypto exchange to list on U.S. markets. So, what sent COIN stock crashing? As CNBC reports , revenue fell 27% from a year ago. That decline was led by fewer users … [Read more...] about Why is Coinbase crashing? COIN stock hits all-time low as crypto trading sinks

Pac-12 stock report: ASU’s transfer help, Grand Canyon talent and a lack of QB clarity

May 11, 2022 by www.denverpost.com

Commentary on Pac-12 developments on and off the field … Rising: ASU’s outlook Were offseason rosters moves tallied on a scoreboard, the Sun Devils were losing 70-7 in the fourth quarter. But they mustered a rally last week when the transfer portal produced a quarterback who just might alter the 2022 trajectory. Emory Jones won’t be mistaken for a future first-round pick — his performance last season at Florida was decidedly uneven. But Jones instantly improves the overall state of ASU’s quarterback depth and should be considered the frontrunner for the starting job over inexperienced returnees Daylin McLemore and Trenton Bourguet and transfer Paul Tyson, who threw a handful of passes for Alabama. Jones owns more than 400 career attempts and faced some of the best defenses in the country during his Gator career. ASU lost its top playmakers and key offensive linemen. If forced to play a rookie quarterback, the situation would have been deeply dire. With Jones running … [Read more...] about Pac-12 stock report: ASU’s transfer help, Grand Canyon talent and a lack of QB clarity

Felcra aims to add 50,000 hectares of oil palm plantation over the next 5 years

May 19, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A KUALA LUMPUR (May 18): Felcra Bhd aims to add 50,000 hectares of oil palm plantation land over the next five years to ensure the sustainability and viability of the company as well as to grab the opportunity from the high demand for palm oil exports. Chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub said Felcra currently has 31,000 hectares of plantation land of which the yield is only from 26,000 hectares. “Given that commodity (palm oil) prices are currently rising due to the world’s major producing country, namely Indonesia, having reduced its exports to keep domestic prices low, it provides space for palm oil producers in other countries such as Malaysia to gain market share at the international level,” he said. He told this to reporters at the Aidilfitri celebration and signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the Residensi Koperasi Felcra Project at the Setiawangsa Community Centre here on Wednesday. Ahmad Jazlan said Felcra has several commodity crops 20% of … [Read more...] about Felcra aims to add 50,000 hectares of oil palm plantation over the next 5 years

Asia’s two richest men reap windfall from surging oil, coal

May 18, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A (May 18): Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani are profiting from a surge in global commodity prices triggered by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, burnishing their fossil-fuel credentials even as Asia’s richest men publicly push their pivots toward greener energy. With coal prices skyrocketing to a record, Adani’s conglomerate is expanding a controversial mine in Australia to meet demand. Ambani’s Reliance Industries Ltd is snapping up distressed crude-oil cargoes at discounts to feed its refining complex, the biggest in the world. Reliance even deferred a scheduled maintenance of the facility to help churn out more diesel and gasoline, whose margins have shot up to touch a three-year high. The two Indian tycoons are stepping in at a time when many developed countries are scrambling for alternative sources of fuels as they try to back away from Russian supplies. This month, the Group of Seven most-industrialized nations pledged to ban imports of Russian oil. The … [Read more...] about Asia’s two richest men reap windfall from surging oil, coal
