July 22, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Upside Investing represents a revolution in investment/spending strategy. It lets you set a living standard floor that only rises as a result of investing in stocks and other risky assets. The higher your floor, the lower your upside and vice versa. The stock market is, once again, going nuts — dropping relentlessly, then bouncing back, only to plunge again, but then recovering, well, kind of, and … This is, in short, excruciating times for those counting on the market to see them through retirement. Stocks have always been a high-reward, high-risk ride. But since the Great Recession, the market seemed reliable. No longer. We now face raging inflation, round three of COVID, lingering supply-chain disruptions, on-again-off-again Chinese production, global energy and food shortages (curtesy of Vladimir the Excrement), … [Read more...] about Finally, A Safe Way To Play The Market — Upside Investing

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Within the span of just four weeks last month, Nepalese Finance Minister Janardan Sharma resigned from office but was then reinstated after he was absolved of an alleged corruption scandal. The upheaval began in early July, when Sharma faced a parliamentary investigation after he was accused of allowing unauthorized, last-minute changes to tax rates in the country’s budget. Sharma stepped down to allow for an internal investigation, which failed to find wrongdoing, and he was reinstated at the end of the month, according to Reuters. The saga has attracted a lot of public and media attention while another significant tax development has unfolded largely under the radar: Nepal is the latest country to implement a digital services tax. Under the new rules , foreign digital services providers with more than NPR 2 million in annual turnover (about $15,911) must register in the country and pay a 2% DST on their … [Read more...] about Shifting Goal Posts In Digital Taxation

Americans are experiencing the adverse effects of consequential decisions made by the Federal Reserve Bank and the U.S. government. The institutions distorted the economy by printing too much money and spending trillions of dollars on various stimulus programs . To revitalize the economy in the wake of business shutdowns during the pandemic, the Fed—through quantitative easing—bought Treasury and agency mortgage-backed securities—amounting to around $8.5 trillion . The cascade of money flooding the market, in part, led to the rapid rise in inflation. Once inflation rose uncontrollably, it was clear that the jig was up. The Fed has no other choice than clamp down on the economy, which will catalyze job losses, to fight ruinous inflation. Inflation, Yet Another Tax These actions result in a lower quality of life for many people. … [Read more...] about Financial Anxiety Is Increasing As Inflation Surges, And People Are Living Paycheck To Paycheck
