It seems like the Takata airbag saga never ends. That saga so far affects over 41.6 million vehicles with defective airbags made by Takata. Previously the defective airbags have been found in Fords, Lexus, Mercedes, Teslas, and more. Now cars from additional manufacturers are being added to the list including Audi, BMW, Honda, Mitsubishi, and Toyota, reports Consumer Reports. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) believes another 1.4 million cars from the above manufacturers may have faulty airbags made by Takata. That includes 116,000 BMW vehicles with model years 1999 to 2001. BMW says right now certain 1999-2001 323i, 325i, 328i, and 330i models are known to be affected as well as certain 2000-2001 323Ci, 325Ci, 328Ci, 330Ci, 323iT, and 325iT models. Audi, Honda, Mitsubishi, and Toyota have yet to announce which additional models of their vehicles are affected. RBI may bless the Lakshmi Vilas Bank-Indiabulls Housing Finance merger
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is likely to give it’s nod to the merger between the private sector lender — Lakshmi Vilas Bank (LVB) and the non-banking finance company (NBFC) Indiabulls Housing Finance (IBH), despite its earlier aversion to entities with linkages with the real estate sector.While there are concerns on IBH’s previous experience with the regulator, there are chances that the regulator may hold a different opinion this time around.“At that time, the RBI was very conservative in terms of allowing new entrants into the banking system. So, only two entities were found suitable as compared to other applicants for the licence,” said R Gandhi, former Deputy Governor, RBI. He added that as per the previous policy, exposure to sensitive sectors would have led to hesitation in granting licences. Coca-Cola to start sale of bottling operations in north India
Leading beverage maker Coca-Cola on December 4 announced that it would be partially divesting its bottling operations in India, a move that will begin with the north.The company said there would be a "realignment of its bottling operations in North India" as its bottler, the Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), will transfer its business operations in north India to existing bottlers."The change involves four non-contiguous territories in which HCCB currently operates and is designed to build regional scale, stimulate investments and growth in the northern part of the country.
