Leaked Document Reveals China’s Plan To Use Tariffs To Divide Trump’s Base

July 3, 2018 by dailycaller.com

China’s secret strategy to use targeted tariffs as a means to divide various groups who support President Trump politically has been exposed in leaked government plans. “We stop negotiation for now, acting tit for tat, roll out corresponding policies, hold public opinion at a good level without escalating it, limit scope, and strike accurately and carefully, splitting apart different domestic groups in US,” the leaked document states. The leaked document is a propaganda notice that the Chinese government issued to the media, and was recently published online by China Digital Times . The notice is representative of China’s response in an ongoing trade war between The United States and China. America is poised to strike China with $34 billion worth of tariffs on goods in the coming days, and China has vowed to retaliate with tariffs totaling to the same amounts, The Hill reports. While there has been intense speculation on whether China was serious about its threats of … [Read more...] about Leaked Document Reveals China’s Plan To Use Tariffs To Divide Trump’s Base

Wade and a series of states immediately banned it. Key Facts Louisiana state Judge Robin M. Giarusso signed a temporary restraining order blocking Louisiana’s trigger laws, which took effect Friday and outlawed all abortions in the state, while the abortion providers’ challenge is heard. Giarusso scheduled a hearing for July 8 on whether to grant the abortion providers’ request for a preliminary injunction that would keep the laws blocked or put them back in effect. Opinion: The aftershocks of America’s abortion earthquake will be felt for decades

June 27, 2022 by edition.cnn.com

(CNN) Following the US Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, CNN Opinion asked a group of contributors to weigh in on the cultural, legal and political ramifications of this monumental legal opinion undoing nearly 50 years of federal abortion protection. The views expressed in these commentaries are those of the authors. SE Cupp: What politicians get wrong about the abortion debate I'm deeply worried for our country. Read More No matter where you stand on the issue -- I'm pro-life but do not support a ban on abortions -- this ruling represents a seismic shift in American life as most of us knew it. I'm 43, and Roe is older than I am. There are more people alive today who have never known an America without Roe than there are people who lived without it. Stripping away what many women have only known as a right for nearly 50 years, without putting anything in its place is dangerous. Roe v. Wade Is No More. What Businesses Need to Know About Covering Abortions

June 24, 2022 by www.inc.com

The United States Supreme Court on Friday eliminated the constitutional right to obtain an abortion , casting aside nearly 50 years of precedent that began with the Roe v. Wade case. The highly-charged case, decided by the court's conservative majority, is sure to spill over into the workplace. Business owners who don't already know where they stand on the issue, are likely going to have to figure one out, especially if they want to help employees with covering the costs of getting legal abortions. The 6-3 decision , which has been anticipated since a draft opinion leaked in May, will lead to near total bans on the procedure in about half of the states across the country. Twenty-two states already impose strict restrictions while 18 states are expected to ban abortion outright, or only allow it in limited circumstances. Thirteen states, including Texas, Mississippi, and Oklahoma, already have trigger laws in place that took effect automatically, while others are written to … [Read more...] about Roe v. ‘The First Amendment Is Live And Well’: Football Coach Fired For Prayer Celebrates SCOTUS Win

June 27, 2022 by dailycaller.com

Joe Kennedy, the high school football coach fired for praying on the field, celebrated the Supreme Court ruling in his favor during a Monday appearance on “The Faulkner Focus.” Kennedy’s employer, the Bremerton School District, terminated his employment in 2015 for violating his employer’s demand to stop saying a prayer on the 50-yard line after games. The Court ruled in a 6-3 decision that the school district violated his rights to the Free Speech and Free Exercise Clauses of the First Amendment. “I really don’t know what to say, I just can’t stop smiling,” Kennedy said. “Thank God and thank everybody that supported me, and I found out that I’m not insane. It’s absolutely true to all the facts of the case, and it just feels good to know that the First Amendment is live and well.” He intends to return to the school district “as soon as” it invites him back, Kennedy said. “I expect some phone calls today from them,” he said. His attorney, First Liberty Institute CEO … [Read more...] about ‘The First Amendment Is Live And Well’: Football Coach Fired For Prayer Celebrates SCOTUS Win

Elon Musk And The Super Alluring Dream For A ‘Super App’

June 21, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin F or Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter to work out as he’d like, Musk must find some way to supersize the company. Its business is long-undersized compared to the platform’s presence in culture and politics. As a model, Musk has set at least some sights on the original so-called super app, WeChat, which is owned by China-based Tencent. In Musk’s first town hall meeting with Twitter employees last week, he directly mentioned WeChat, indicating that building something like it would further his broader goal of nearly quintupling Twitter’s user base to a billion people. “There’s no WeChat equivalent out of China,” he said at the meeting. “There’s a real opportunity to create that.” Much of what Musk says can seem outlandish. (At the meeting, he also discussed the possibility of alien life.) But his thinking about WeChat isn’t, though it is not especially novel. WeChat’s success has tantalized many a Silicon Valley mogul; … [Read more...] about Elon Musk And The Super Alluring Dream For A ‘Super App’

Roe Dies. America Divides – And It Ain’t All About Women

June 24, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin “ Women are just roadkill in this fight, it’s all about men .” (Quote from the upcoming documentary Fairplay by Jennifer Siebel Newsom.) The end of Roe v Wade is the first big wave of the Conservative Supreme Court’s impact on America. It won’t be the last. The Trumped-up Court is now muscling up its macho-retro stance, and five robed judges have just robbed some 36 million American women of their right to an abortion. While it will drown women’s rights to bodily control, it also reveals the scarily undemocratic dance this divided nation is now locked in. After all, a majority of Americans support abortion. Yet what became a constitutional right a half-century ago has just been reversed - it is unlikely to be won back anytime soon. It’s a move that should worry at least as many men as women. Almost all 38 OECD countries allow abortion. American exceptionalism is going down a dark, backward slide. Women are always … [Read more...] about Roe Dies. Falling House Prices And The Elections In 2022 And 2024

June 23, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Falling house prices tend to be bad for incumbent politicians during reelections. Take, for example, George H. W. Bush. Vice President George H. W. Bush was elected president in a landslide in 1988. The U.S. housing market had been booming for years before that election. The Northeast boomed from 1986 to 1988, and California was also booming in 1988. Nationally, nominal house prices increased 14% in the 20 months from January 1987 until the election in November 1988, according to the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Home Price Index . Eight states voted for George Bush that haven’t voted for another Republican presidential candidate since then. Six of those states were in the Northeast, and one was California. All of those states saw big house price increases in the 1980s. By 1990, however, house prices nationally had stopped increasing. Real house prices and family home equity wealth fell with the 1990 recession. … [Read more...] about Falling House Prices And The Elections In 2022 And 2024
