Hamilo Coast: Nurturing nature for 15 years and beyond

June 27, 2022 by business.inquirer.net

The current rate at which individuals observe sustainability practices is far from halting climate change. Whether it is reducing the use of disposable items or saving more energy, environmentally conscious activities will only yield significant results if everyone is “cast in the same mold,” so to speak. That said, high-impact global sustainable development lies within the responsibility of the government and large organizations—conglomerates among them. Understanding such a role, SM Prime Holdings, Inc., one of the largest integrated property developers in Southeast Asia, has incorporated its sustainable practices in its developments early on.  Through SM Prime’s Costa Del Hamilo Inc . , a leader in the leisure resort industry and the movers behind Hamilo Coast – this premium seaside complex in Nasugbu, Batangas, fosters a tangible connection with nature. Marking its quindecinnial year, Hamilo Coast looks back at its milestones and achievements with its core emphasis on … [Read more...] about Hamilo Coast: Nurturing nature for 15 years and beyond

How Overturning Roe Vs Wade Will Widen Inequities In The Workplace

June 26, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin With the recent overturn of Roe vs Wade, fifty years of female reproductive rights were suddenly taken away. This decision by a select few will impact the lives of millions, and that impact will have significant ramifications on the already-troublesome gender gap in the workplace. Below are just a few of the inequities we can expect to widen, along with tips for employers to help mitigate them. Pay Equity The non-adjusted gender pay gap is generally calculated by looking at the difference in median salary of full-time employees that identify as men vs. women. Based on this calculation, women were already paid 22.1% less than men in 2021 in the US, and that widens to 43% less for Hispanic women and 36% less for Black women. When women become mothers, the overall gender gap increases to 30% . Many women choose to wait until they are further along in their career to have children due to this “motherhood … [Read more...] about How Overturning Roe Vs Wade Will Widen Inequities In The Workplace

Why Interest Rates Will Not Impact The Business For Sale Market

June 26, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Inflation and the attempt to offset it with higher interest rates is impacting almost all areas of the economy and people’s everyday life. In the world of business sales, where the leverage and financing of deals play a vital role, one would think that the potential repercussions of accelerating interest rates will be enormous and disastrous. While I understand that thinking, I do not agree. Of course, there will be the usual nay-sayers who decide they cannot move forward to buy a business now because interest rates are rising. These are almost certainly the same folks who cannot pull the trigger on buying a business no matter the state of the economy. Business buyers simply need to get used to a new basis. The low interest rates we have experienced in recent years were not always the case, and businesses did not stop selling. Anyone who wants to buy or sell a business needs to block out the noise, adapt, and adjust their … [Read more...] about Why Interest Rates Will Not Impact The Business For Sale Market

4 Things to do before turning 30, for an enviable financial future.

June 10, 2022 by www.moneycontrol.com

All investment advice essentially boils down to this: invest regularly, and start as early as possible. But this is easier said than done, especially when the earnings in our 20s are so low! However, here are 4 key things you can do now, even when you don't earn all that much, to set yourself up for an absolutely enviable financial future. Learn to use your credit card like a boss: pay zero interest and zero fees Your credit card only accumulates interest when you don't pay it in full. Even the smallest amount outstanding, starts the meter on the interest. The best thing you can do is set up standing instructions to pay the outstanding amount each time. Pay off your balance every month - this way you have all the benefits of a credit card, without paying a single paisa to the bank in interest. A trap you must avoid is having multiple credit cards - it's much harder to track your expenses when they're spread out over multiple cards. It can also be difficult to keep track of … [Read more...] about 4 Things to do before turning 30, for an enviable financial future.

Analysts keep ‘buy’ on VS Industry despite lower-than-expected 9MFY22 earnings

June 27, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A KUALA LUMPUR (June 27): Analysts have maintained their "buy" rating of VS Industry Bhd (VSI) despite the company’s earnings for the nine-month period ended April 30, 2022 (9MFY22) coming in below their expectations. Despite maintaining a "buy" rating for the stock, Hong Leong Investment Bank (HLIB) Research trimmed its target price (TP) to RM1.14 (from RM1.21 previously). “In light of [the] rising interest rate environment and cost headwinds, we tweak our P/E (price-to-earnings) target lower from 18 times to 16 times. “As the biggest EMS (electronic manufacturing services) player in Malaysia with a solid track record, we opine that VSI would be able to weather through the gloomy clouds while simultaneously scour for opportunities from the trade diversion,” said the research house in a note on Monday (June 27). VSI’s net profit for the third quarter ended April 30, 2022 (3QFY22) dropped 30.1% year-on-year to RM51.29 million, from RM73.38 million … [Read more...] about Analysts keep ‘buy’ on VS Industry despite lower-than-expected 9MFY22 earnings

(Kenny Holston/Pool via REUTERS) WASHINGTON — The United States aims to raise $200 billion in private and public funds over five years to fund needed infrastructure in developing countries under a G7 initiative aimed at countering China’s multitrillion-dollar Belt and Road project, the White House said on Sunday. US President Joe Biden will unveil the plans, flanked by other Group of Seven leaders, some of whom have already unveiled their own separate initiatives, at their annual gathering being held this year at Schloss Elmau in southern Germany. Increasingly worried about China, G7 leaders first floated plans for the project last year, and are formally launching it now under a fresh title, “Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment” while dropping the moniker “Build Back Better World” … [Read more...] about US to raise $200 billion for G7 vs China’s Belt and Road

June 26, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin It’s been a rollercoaster ride for shares of Airbnb since the online home rental firm went public in December 2020. Shares rose in the second half of last year, peaking at just over $207 in November. Now they’re trading for about 50% less, following a decline in many U.S. stocks. One of Airbnb’s three billionaire cofounders has continued to sell shares monthly despite the stock plunge. Since June 15, 2021, Joe Gebbia, who is head of Airbnb’s nonprofit arm, has sold 5 million shares worth $713 million. He’s been selling at a rate of 200,000 to 700,000 shares a month, as recently as this month—parting with 8% of his stake in the company. After taxes, Forbes estimates Gebbia took home at least $450 million. Per Securities and Exchange Commission filings, those transactions were part of a predetermined trading plan.
