BOCAUE, Bulacan -- Jason Perkins of the Phoenix Fuel Masters has been named the Rookie of the Year of the PBA's 43rd season. Perkins, a former De La Salle University standout, was selected fourth overall in the 2017 PBA Rookie Draft by the Fuel Masters. He averaged 12.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in his first year in the league. He edged out fellow Lasallian Jeron Teng of the Alaska Aces for top rookie honors, along with Magnolia’s Robbie Herndon, Blackwater’s Raymar Jose, and Rain or Shine’s Rey Nambatac. The best things come in small packages it would seem, at least when it comes to picking up the Peterborough branch of CAMRA’s Pub of the Year award. The 2019 recipient, decided in a vote counted on New Year’s Eve, is The Frothblowers, a micropub in Storrington Way, Werrington. And it took over the mantle from Peterborough city centre micropub The Bumble Inn in Westgate.The accolade caps a meteoric rise for the venue which was opened a little under two years ago by John Lawrence and Steve Williams.
