The Seoul Central District Court made the ruling and ordered the immediate detention of Park after finding him guilty of most of charges. The 77-year-old Park resigned as chairperson of Kumho Asiana Group and Asiana Airlines in 2019 to take responsibility for bookkeeping irregularities at the nation's No. 2 carrier. He was arrested and indicted in May last year on multiple criminal charges but was released on bail in November. Park was indicted for withdrawing 330 billion won ($252 million) from four companies in 2015 to pay for the return of Kumho Industrial shares from the state-funded Korea Development Bank and other creditors. Instead of two Western Hemispheric nations, there are three. Instead of two European nations, there are three. This is the second in a series of columns about the nation’s exports. It follows similar series I did for the countries that are the nation’s top 10 trade partners and one for the airports, seaports and border crossings that are the nation’s top 10 “ports.” The first article in this series focused on an overview of the top 10 exports . This post will take a quick look at those 10 countries that are among the top 10 partners for U.S. exports: Canada Mexico China Japan United Kingdom Germany South Korea Netherlands Brazil … [Read more...] about Top 10 U.S. Export Partners Tells A Different, Less Asian Story

August 16, 2022 by www.fastcompany.com

Meetings get a bad rap. However, their lousy reputations aren’t unwarranted since most people consider meetings a waste of time alongside stoking a lack of motivation and energy-sapping feelings. According to these sentiments, most meetings are terrible, and they’re getting more time-consuming and even less liked. advertisement advertisement If you’re a blatant opponent of meetings, you are not alone. Seoul says its 5th incinerator will become a landmark

August 17, 2022 by koreajoongangdaily.joins.com

A concept image of a new waste incinerator to be built in Seoul [SEOUL METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT] Seoul announced Wednesday that it will build a new waste incinerator by 2026 and make it into a city landmark. The city government held a press conference Wednesday to announce the new incinerator for municipal waste. In addition to the four incineration plants already in the capital — in Yangcheon, Nowon, Gangnam and Mapo — Seoul announced it will add another by 2026. An independent committee will choose the site in September. According to the city government, the four plants operating in Seoul incinerate around 2,200 tons of waste per day. That is not enough for the household waste generated by its 9.5 million residents, and some 1,000 tons is being buried in the Sudokwon landfill in Incheon. Following a ban on burying municipal waste in landfills in the greater capital region that goes into effect in 2026, Seoul needs a new incinerator.
