BLOOMINGTON, Minn. _ Toro Co. (TTC) on Thursday reported fiscal first-quarter profit of $59.5 million. The Bloomington, Minnesota-based company said it had profit of 55 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for pretax gains, came to 51 cents per share. The landscaping, maintenance and irrigation equipment maker posted revenue of $603 million in the period. For the current quarter ending in May, Toro expects its per-share earnings to range from $1.15 to $1.20. Toro shares have climbed 15 percent since the beginning of the year. Fresh opposition protests in Albania over accusations of government links to organised crime
Thousands of protesters surrounded Albania's parliament building in the capital, Tirana, on Thursday to demand the government steps down over claims of corruption and links to organised crime. The country's opposition parties had called for fresh protests following clashes with police at a rally the previous Saturday when crowds attacked Prime Minister Edi Rama's office. Police used tear gas to keep them away. Rama said he would not resign and that there would be no fresh elections. Hundreds of police were on duty around the parliament on Thursday and rolls of barbed wire has were put in place surrounding the building. The day's parliamentary proceedings were cancelled. Council tax to increase by 2.99 per cent in Barkign and Dagenham

Picture: LBBD Archant The local authority’s cabinet chiefs voted for the tax hike at a meeting at Barking Town Hall on Monday.
