MORE PROOF GOVERNMENT LOCKDOWNS CRUSHED AMERICA… WSJ: Red States Are Winning the Post-Pandemic Economy
The pandemic has changed the geography of the American economy.
By many measures, red states—those that lean Republican—have recovered faster economically than Democratic-leaning blue ones, with workers and employers moving from the coasts to the middle of the country and Florida.
Since February 2020, the month before the pandemic began, the share of all U.S. jobs located in red states has grown by more than half a percentage point, according to an analysis of Labor Department data by the Brookings Institution think tank. Red states have added 341,000 jobs over that time, while blue states were still short 1.3 million jobs as of May.
Several major companies have recently announced moves of their headquarters from blue to red states. Hedge-fund company Citadel said recently it would move its headquarters from Chicago to Miami, and Caterpillar Inc. plans to move from Illinois to Texas.
AMERICANS DON'T TRUST ANYTHING… AND HATE THE DIRECTION OUR COUNTRY IS HEADED… POLITICO…
— Americans' confidence in the country's institutions continues to drop to record lows in the latest Gallup survey. The presidency and the Supreme Court suffered the most precipitous declines over the past year in the percentage of Americans who have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in them (falling 15 and 11 points, respectively). Congress is still at the bottom of the barrel (just 7%). Small business and the military are the only institutions to break 50%, while organized labor is the only one not to see a decline from a year ago.
— An eye-popping 10% of Americans say the country is headed in the right direction, compared to 88% who think it's on the wrong track, in a new Monmouth poll. That's a record low going back to 2013. (The generic congressional ballot finds Republicans and Democrats tied at 47%, and President JOE BIDEN's approval rating has dipped to 36%.)
Debra Messing was fed up. The former "Will & Grace" star was among dozens of celebrity Democratic supporters and activists who joined a call with White House aides last Monday to discuss the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.
The mood was fatalistic, according to three people on the call, which was also co-organized by the advocacy group Build Back Better Together.
Messing said she'd gotten Joe Biden elected and wanted to know why she was being asked to do anything at all, yelling that there didn't even seem a point to voting. Others wondered why the call was happening.
That afternoon, participants received a follow-up email with a list of basic talking points and suggestions of Biden speech clips to share on TikTok.
MORE… JOHN SEXTON: Angry Democrats have had it with 'rudderless, aimless and hopeless' Biden administration
Delusions of grandeur aside, Messing isn't alone in thinking the White House is pretty hopeless.
"Rudderless, aimless and hopeless" is how one member of Congress described the White House…
"There's not a frontline office out there that isn't frustrated with the lack of action coming from the White House on inflation," one aide told a member fighting to hang onto an endangered seat. "At the very least, the President should get caught trying to bring prices down just about every day."…
"There's no fight," another Democratic member told CNN. "People understand that a lot of this is out of his hands — but what you want to see is the President out there swinging."
GERMANY'S GREEN BET IS IMPLODING… Germany Went All In On Green Energy. Now It's Economy Is On The Brink Of Collapse
After pouring billions of dollars into green energy, Germany is facing economic calamity, including potential collapse should Russia shut off gas supplies.
On July 5, Germany announced their plan to rewrite 1970s legislation to send taxpayer funds to energy suppliers in an attempt to prepare for a possible recession, the Wall Street Journal reported. The collapse comes after Germany unveiled their plan to spend $220 billion to transfer all their energy needs to renewable sources, Reuters reported.
The funds for Germany's energy plan were meant to expand the use of renewable energy and make the country less reliant on Russia, Reuters reported. Last week, a large German utility company asked for state support as it prepares for a bailout due to a lack of Russian supplies, according to the WSJ.
Russia's natural gas cuts are occurring as households are suffering from CO2 price increases and a rise in inflation, Business Insider reported. Germany's economy relies on Russia for 35% of its natural gas supply.
Last month Russia cut natural gas to Germany through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline by 60%, Business Insider stated.
The pipeline is projected to shut down for maintenance for ten days in July, leading to fears of exacerbating the situation, Germany's Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck said in an Associated Press article. After the maintenance, however, Habeck fears Russia will not continue natural gas deliveries.
MORE… 'EUROPE'S LARGEST ECONOMY' ON THE BRINK… WSJ: Germany to Bail Out Energy Suppliers Ahead of Winter Without Russian Gas
BERLIN—Germany paved the way Tuesday for injecting billions of taxpayer money into embattled energy suppliers, as the country braces for a stop to Russian natural-gas imports—a scenario many economists think would trigger a severe recession.
Berlin said it was rewriting legislation going back to the 1970s oil shock, enabling the government to inject capital into energy companies that are struggling with rocketing gas prices and dwindling Russian supplies to ensure they keep delivering power and heat to companies and households.
The move is the latest in a battery of emergency measures to help manage an energy crisis in Europe's largest economy this winter as the economic war unleashed by Moscow's invasion of Ukraine accelerates.
Berlin rushed to reduce its high reliance on Russian gas immediately after the invasion, but it wasn't planning to be able to do entirely without these imports before 2024. With Moscow now throttling its supply to Germany, concern is growing that it could turn off the spigot entirely as early as this month.
TRUMP RANG THE ALARM BELLS… AND GERMANY MOCKED HIM… FLASHBACK… 2018… WAPO: Trump accused Germany of becoming 'totally dependent' on Russian energy at the U.N. The Germans just smirked.
BERLIN — Out of President Trump's speech at the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday, it probably won't be the script that will be remembered by diplomats but, rather, world leaders' laughter, caught on camera and shared in viral videos.
One of them captured the amused reactions of the German delegation as Trump said: "Germany will become totally dependent on Russian energy if it does not immediately change course. Here in the Western Hemisphere, we are committed to maintaining our independence from the encroachment of expansionist foreign powers."
German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas could be seen smirking alongside his colleagues.
It wasn't the first time Trump had lashed out at Germany over its gas imports from Russia.
During a NATO summit in July, he took aim at the Germans for the same reason, specifically singling out a planned 800-mile pipeline beneath the Baltic Sea called Nord Stream 2. "Germany, as far as I'm concerned, is captive to Russia because it's getting so much of its energy from Russia," Trump told NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, also speaking on camera at the time. "We have to talk about the billions and billions of dollars that's being paid to the country we're supposed to be protecting you against."
RULING CLASS ABRUPTLY DISCOVERS VALUE OF NUCLEAR ENERGY… 2 BIG STORIES…
Driven by the difficulty of meeting clean energy goals and by surging electricity demands, a growing number of political leaders are taking a fresh look at nuclear power — both extending the life of existing reactors and building new ones.
Even past skeptics, largely Democrats, have come around to the idea — notably in California, where the state's sole remaining nuclear plant, Diablo Canyon, is scheduled to close in 2025. The search for clean energy has given nuclear power a spark that has drawn bipartisan support that added billions in funding for existing and new projects.
BRUSSELS — In a landmark vote for Europe's climate and energy policies, lawmakers said on Wednesday that some gas and nuclear energy projects should be considered "green" and receive access to cheap loans and even state subsidies.
A European Parliament meeting in Strasbourg, France, voted in favor of accepting a proposal by the European Commission, the E.U. executive, with 328 votes backing the proposal and 278 against.
AMERICANS RANK PRIORITIES — INFLATION DOMINATES… Only A Fraction Of People List 'Abortion' As Their Biggest Concern. You Can Guess What Is First
Economic issues top Americans' list of major concerns, far outpacing abortion, according to a Monmouth University poll released Tuesday.
Among the respondents, 63% listed inflation, gas prices, the economy and everyday bills/groceries as the top concern for their families, according to the poll. Abortion and reproductive rights were the top concern for only five percent.
Guns, health care costs and job security/unemployment ranked next, all three at three percent.
NJ LAUNCHES AMMO REGISTRY… Gov. Phil Murphy's Latest 2A Crackdown Creates Database For All Ammo Sold In New Jersey
Democratic New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy signed seven new gun laws Tuesday, creating stricter gun regulations for the state, including one bill creating a database for all New Jersey ammo sales.
New Jersey Bill A1302 allows the state to require manufacturers and wholesale dealers to report to the state their record of ammunition sales made in New Jersey, according to the bill.
The law requires they also create an electronic records system to store their ammunition sales data.
"The handgun ammunition record shall be in electronic form and shall contain the date of the transaction; the type, caliber, or gauge of the ammunition; the quantity of ammunition sold; the name and address of the purchaser; and any other information the superintendent shall deem necessary," the bill stated.
The seven laws Murphy signed Tuesday included banning .50 caliber weapons, stricter regulations on so-called "ghost guns," creating an easy path to sue gun manufacturers, and mandating firearm training, reported NJ.com.

HIGHLAND PARK SHOOTER DRESSED IN LADY CLOTHES TO ESCAPE… Highland Park Shooter Wore Women's Clothing During Attack, Police Say
The 21-year-old man who is accused of fatally shooting six individuals and injured dozens more during a Fourth of July parade was wearing women's clothing during the attack, according to authorities.
Robert Crimo is accused of opening fire at the parade in Highland Park, a Chicago suburb. During the attack, Crimo allegedly injured 24 while killing at least six. Crimo is believed to have planned the attack weeks in advance, according to Christopher Covelli, spokesman for the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force.
"Based on where we're at … we do believe Crimo pre-planned this attack for several weeks," Covelli said. "He brought a high-powered rifle to this parade, he accessed the roof of a business via a fire escape ladder and began opening fire on the innocent Independence Day celebration goers."
"During the attack, Crimo was dressed in women's clothing, and investigators do believe he did this to conceal his facial tattoos and his identity and help him during the escape with the other people who were fleeing the chaos."
TALK ABOUT RED FLAGS… HIGHLAND PARK SHOOTER ONCE THREATENED TO 'KILL EVERYONE'… Suspect In Parade Shooting Had Two Encounters With Law Enforcement Before Massacre, Police Say
The suspected shooter in the Fourth of July parade shooting had encountered the police twice prior to the massacre, Lake County Sheriff deputy chief Christopher Covelli said Tuesday.
Covelli said the alleged shooter, 22-year-old Robert Crimo, had encountered the police on two separate occasions occurring in 2019. Police responded to a delayed report of a suicide attempt by Crimo in April of that year where they spoke to the suspected shooter and his parents. The case was a mental health matter being handled primarily by health professionals.
In September 2019, a family member reported that Crimo threatened to "kill everyone" and had a collection of knives. Police confiscated 16 knives, a dagger and a sword from his home. Covelli said there was "no probable cause" at that time to place him under arrest.
EVEN ANDY MCCABE CAN DO THE MATH… 'How Effective Can These Red Flag Laws Possibly Be': CNN Analyst Raises Concerns After IL Shooting (VIDEO)
"I think — the heart of what we have been talking about a lot lately with these red flag laws. So, you know, has been a lot of excitement over the fact that the recent national legislation provides incentive to the states to institute red flag laws. If we have yet another situation where we have a mass shooter who is putting out plenty of signals that possibly his network of associates and family knew about, but yet no word was ever passed on to law enforcement, really calls into question how effective can these red flag laws possibly be."
LATEST 'TUCKER' SEGMENT DEFINITELY NOT BROUGHT TO YOU BY PFIZER… Tucker Carlson: Mental Health, Drug Crises Among Young Men Turn Them Into Mass Killers (VIDEO)
Carlson pointed to the increase of drug prescriptions and mass shootings rising simultaneously.
An increase in the use of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) and antidepressant drugs has contributed to the rising number of mass shooters, including one of the two Columbine shooters, Eric Harris, who took Zoloft and Luvox drugs in 1999, he said. A shooter named Kipp Kinkle used Prozac when he shot his parents and opened fire in an Oregon high school, while another teenager who killed his grandfather and 10 classmates used the same drug.
He cited data from the National Library of Medicine finding that the total number of prescriptions of SSRI usage rose by 3,001% between 1991 and 2018 and by 40% among teens between 2015-19. Antidepressant usage jumped by nearly 400% between 1988-1994 and 2005-2008, according to Harvard Health Publishing. The suicide rate and the number of mass shootings rose drastically within that time frame.
"The point of this change was to make Americans calmer, saner [and] happier. Take these drugs and your problems will go away. Yes, you'll become numb, you will lose part of yourself, you'll no longer experience great joy, you'll become part robot," he said. "But at least you won't want to kill yourself or harm other people. That was the problem."
Carlson said the media is hiding these facts due to Pfizer paying more on advertising than research and doubling their salary. He presented a tweet, paid by Pfizer, by CNBC calling Pfizer "uniquely positioned" to advance mRNA research, while CNN, ABC News, Good Morning America and CBS HealthWatch were all sponsored by Pfizer.
"You might think it'd be the subject of a media story, but no, no stores on Pfizer. They're paid to be fanboys of Pfizer, therefore they are, " he said. "It's all brought to you by Pfizer. And why is that? TV channels don't prescribe drugs, doctors do. So why would Pfizer, a drug company, be advertising on television? Well, we're not sure [of] the answer but let's put it this way, don't hold your breath waiting for CNN and Good Morning America to do a hard hitting investigative piece on the potential connection between prescription drugs and violence."
DRUG COMPANY SAYS THEIR PRODUCT'S FAILURE TO NEUTRALIZE VIRUS IS A 'NEW OPPORTUNITY GROWTH AREA'… MORE COURSES, MORE MONEY… Pfizer Plans To Profit From COVID For Years To Come
Pfizer has already profited billions of dollars from the COVID-19 pandemic, and it plans to do so for years to come via annual vaccinations and sales of its antiviral pill Paxlovid.
The company doubled its revenue from 2020 to 2021, bringing in more than $81 billion, and also gained a large foothold in the American regulatory process, according to Kaiser Health News. CEO Albert Bourla and other top executives have said they plan to continue taking advantage of the COVID-19 market for the foreseeable future.
"Hopefully, we could be giving it annually and maybe for some groups that are high-risk more often," Bourla told investors earlier this year, referring to COVID-19 booster shots and vaccines tailored to specific variants. "Then you have the treatment [Paxlovid] that will, let's say, resolve the issues of those that are getting the disease."
Some patients have experienced issues with "rebound" infections with Paxlovid, cases where they begin experiencing stronger symptoms again after completing their series of the antiviral pill. That won't stop Pfizer from selling millions more doses though, executives said.
"People are going to get out there," the president of Pfizer Biopharmaceuticals Group, Angela Hwang, said in May. "We know with all of that, infections are going to increase, and that's the role that Paxlovid can play."
In that investor call, Dr. Mikael Dolsten described immunocompromised patients as an "opportunity growth area." The company is now approaching Paxlovid's failure to neutralize the virus as an opportunity to give patients more courses.
"[They] may carry this virus for a very, very long time," he said. "And we see that area as a real new opportunity growth area for Paxlovid to do very well, where you may need to take multiple courses."
KARINE TAILSPINS AS REPORTERS ASK ABOUT HUNTER BIDEN… Doocy Presses Jean-Pierre On Biden Allegedly Leaving Voicemail To His Son About His Business Dealings (VIDEO)
"Why is there a voicemail of the president talking to his son about his overseas business dealings if the president has said he's never spoken to his son about his overseas business dealings?" Doocy asked.
"First, I'll say that what the president said stands, so if that's what the president said that is what stands," Jean-Pierre said.
"He left a voicemail about a New York Times article concerning Hunter Biden's business dealings and says, 'I think you're clear,'" Doocy pressed. "How is that him not talking to his son about his overseas business dealings?"
Jean-Pierre said she will not discuss "alleged materials" about Hunter's laptop. The Fox News reporter asked if she was disputing the voicemail recording.
"I am not going to talk about alleged materials on the laptop," she repeated. "It is not happening."
"You're refuting, then, that is not—" Doocy began.
"Peter, I refer you to his son's representative," she interjected.
RealClearPolitics White House reporter Phillip Wegmann followed up by questioning the consistency of her silence to Biden repeatedly saying he did not communicate with his son regarding his business dealings overseas.
"You seemed to dismiss Peter's question about his conversation with his son, Hunter Biden, with regards to his business dealings," Wegmann said. "I'm wondering how is that silence consistent with the president's promise to always level with the American public, because in public he says he hasn't discussed these business dealings and then at least according to the voicemail that has been obtained by the Daily Mail and Washington Examiner, it certainly seems like he was seeking to do exactly that, have a conversation about these business dealings. Is he leveling with the American public on this?"
Jean-Pierre repeated that she cannot discuss materials from Hunter's laptop and referred him to his representative.
TOP ROCKER COLLAPSES MID-CONCERT… Carlos Santana Collapses On Stage
Carlos Santana collapsed on stage at the Pine Knob Music Theatre on Tuesday night in the middle of his concert.
The legendary artist was only 4 or 5 songs into his first set and had just started to sing his hit single "Joy" when he suffered a medical emergency, according to TMZ. Santana reportedly sat down in front of the drums before falling backward. EMTs and his closest staffers rushed to assist him as he visibly fell ill, according to TMZ.
Immediately following his collapse, a black tarp was rushed onto the stage as medics attempted to assist Santana to the best of their ability. A video posted to YouTube shows the music legend waving to fans while his assistants attempt to conceal him behind a black tarp.
