As many seven COVID-19 patients died on August 9 in a fire accident at a hotel, which was converted as novel coronavirus care facility in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, Krishna district Collector MD Imtiaz.There were 30 COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment at the facility and 10 hospital staff.”We have recovered seven bodies. The hotel was taken by a private hospital to treat COVID-19 patients. The fire broke out in the early hours. Rescue operations are on,” news agency PTI quoted the official as saying.Close Vijayawada police Commissioner B Srinivasulu told PTI that they have shifted about 20 patients to other hospitals.Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed shock over the incident.In a tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was “anguished by the fire” incident in Vijayawada. “My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones.
