Manny Pacquiao Is The Betting Favorite Vs. Both Danny Garcia And Mikey Garcia

Before his latest impressive victory against a world-class opponent, Manny Pacquiao was originally the underdog against Keith Thurman. Enough money came in on Pacquiao as the fight neared, though, that eventually he flipped to being the betting favorite before his victory.

When it comes to possible opponents like Danny Garcia and Mikey Garcia for Pacquiao's next fight, oddsmakers have gone the opposite direction and made Pacquiao the opening favorite against both.

As released by BetOnline.ag on Wednesday, Pacquiao is -200 vs. Danny Garcia, meaning you'd have to bet $200 to win a $100 payday. Garcia, meanwhile, is +160, which means you'd earn a $160 payoff with a $100 wager.

Against Mikey Garcia, the odds for Pacquiao, at -160, are not quite as a wide, while Garcia is +130.

It's interesting that Mikey Garcia, in the mind of the sports book, is more of a threat to Pacquiao than Danny Garcia. Danny Garcia, a former unified junior welterweight titlist, has fought as a 147-pound welterweight for the past seven fights. Yes, he's lost two of his last four (against Thurman and Shawn Porter), but his power would likely be more dangerous for Pacquiao than that of Mikey Garcia.

Mikey Garcia, who is No. 8 on my pound for pound list , hasn't fought since March when he was dominated by Errol Spence, and he's spent most of his career at featherweight (126 pounds) and lightweight (135). Mikey Garcia is probably more technically skilled than Danny Garcia, but to me, Danny Garcia would provide more danger of sending Pacquiao to the canvas.

To cash in on the bet, either fight would have to take place before May 2, 2020.

According to Pacquiao, he could be back in the ring by March or April of 2020 . Forbes' Brian Mazique recently argued that Danny Garcia should be the next opponent for Pacquiao, but other possible matchups could include Shawn Porter or Yordenis Ugas. Thurman has also talked about wanting a rematch (that will likely never happen), and so has Terence Crawford (because of opposing promotional issues, that also probably won't ever occur).

Still, the most likely opponent would be either Danny Garcia or Mikey Garcia (no relation). And if you think either of them would beat Pacquiao, now might be a decent time to make a wager.
