MANILA, Philippines – Four-time defending champion National University (NU) outlasted Far Eastern University (FEU)-Diliman in five sets to extend its unbeaten run to eight games, Saturday at the Blue Eagle Gym. The Bullpups secured a hard-earned 27-29, 25-18, 25-27, 25-18, 15-9 triumph to improve to 8-0 in the UAAP Season 81 high school volleyball tournament. Sheena Toring had 18 points, including two service aces, while Alyssa Solomon (17), Erin Pangilinan (14) and Faith Nisperos (10) also scored in twin digits for the Bullpups. FEU-Diliman, led by 17 points from Lyann de Guzman, dropped to 4-5 in the tournament. Meanwhile, Alleiah Malaluan and Angel Canino teamed up for 43 points as De La Salle-Zobel turned back University of Santo Tomas, 25-23, 25-19, 16-25, 27-25, to remain in second place at 6-2. The Junior Tigresses fell at 5-4, just a game ahead over the Baby Tamaraws in the race for the last semifinals berth.
