When you install an antenna, or when you want to move an antenna to another location for convenience or to try to get better reception, you need to scan for channels. You’ll find this option in the settings of your TV or of your digital converter box, if you use one. Go into your TV’s settings menu and look for an option having to do with channels or channel setup. You should then see the option to select your video source, which is usually cable or antenna. You would choose antenna. Then you should see an option to scan for channels or auto-program. Start the scan and wait a few minutes. You might then see a list of the channels your TV found for you to watch. On my Panasonic TV, I can edit that channel list to skip the ones I don’t want to watch. Depending on your TV, you might even have a program guide with show information available. The reader had his antenna up for a while and one day NBC5 was just gone. I have to admit, if I didn’t pay attention to technology news as a hobby, I might have missed the rescan messages as well. We all get distracted. Once he rescanned, Channel 5 came back, and all was good.
