On April 12, a new H&M will land at the Southland Mall, opening at 11 a.m. The 23,000 square-foot store will have clothing collections for men and women, as well as a separate “shop in shop” section for accessories, according to a news release from the retail chain. The Hayward location will also carry the H&M Kids line for newborns to children 14 years-old. The store plans to hire about 20 employees. On opening day, customers can line up before the 11 a.m. opening for a chance to win gift cards. Those who participate in the store’s garment collecting — H&M stores accept bags of used textiles for recycling — also have a chance to win gift cards on opening day. H&M has 78 other locations in California, including in San Francisco, San Jose, Concord, Emeryville, Pleasanton, Milpitas, San Rafael, Daly City, San Mateo, Fairfield, Newark and Walnut Creek.
